Men, look away. You've been warned
Jump to: Newest in thread
Ladies, are any of you taking cerezette? Or similar brands.. The progesterone only pill.
If so have you ever experienced seemingly random bleeding?
I've been on and off the pill for 7-8 years now and only when I first started taking it did I have any bleeding. I've not had a period whilst on the pill since then.
Friday night I had extremely rough sex.. Enough to make me bleed internally and externally! 2 days before that, I had extremely light pink discharge.. I've had it in the past so I didn't worry. Friday it had stopped. Then Saturday morning post sex there was blood on the sheets (thank fuck it washed out because they're not my sheets!). Light bleeding, I'm assuming from a bruised cervix or something. Then nothing Sunday. Then Monday I started bleeding as I would if I were on my period. Now it's heavier than it's ever been.. I won't go into detail but it's bad!
I'm rubbish at biology stuff.. But I was under the impression that the POP stopped the womb lining from thickening, hence no periods. But then I realised that some people do actually still have periods on this pill.
Anyway, my question is has this ever happened to any of you?
I'm not concerned enough to see a doctor yet, just wondering if it's normal or not!
Sorry for the grossness! And guys, if you read this and are now scarred for life, don't say I didn't warn you! |

"I can't remember how POP is supposed to work, but yes I've had random bleeding on Cerazette. Never anything very heavy but sporadic bleeding for sure."
Phew, glad it's not just me then. Probably bleeding heavily from the bruising |

From what I remember, it's only supposed to be a cause for concern if your periods get more frequent or more heavy than when you weren't taking it, but I could have made that up entirely |

I hope you're making that up lol. Now I'm worried xD I've never had a period this heavy. Except when I had my coil fitted and removed within a day of each other.. That was bad, but also the wrong time of month. This is confusing haha |

Ok I googled and it said if you have particularly heavy or prolonged bleeding to consult your doctor/family planning clinic/nurse. I suppose only you can judge what is particularly heavy |

Just a thought, rather than receiving confusing or conflicting advice. Contact whatever the NHS helpline is called these days who may be in a better position of knowledge to advise. |

Just a general question, in this day and age, are guys still sqeamish over this?
We change nappies now, we know about periods, if my better half is having her period and feels amorous it doesnt bother me.
Am I the odd one out? I hope not. |

Practically no pain at all. A dull ache but not 'period pain' as such. |

I went on the pill (Cerelle) for the first time ever a few weeks ago. Had some light spotting yesterday and checked with their own website just to make sure. It's a side effect for about 1 in 10 but it should only be a concern if it's prolonged and/or heavy. |

I was taken off that pill because of random or constant bleeding.
At times i could be on for 2 weeks really heavy then off for 2 days..and back on again. I was having dizzy spells and almost passed out a few times at work.
Im now on Femodene which is great for me. Take it for 21 days then a 7 day break. No random stuff at all. |
