Anyone have any decent pasta or rice recipes.. looking for low fat ones but can't find any good websites.

It's more for lunch than dinner meals.. BBC Good food has brilliant suggestions but with all the pinch of this etc.. A lunch would end up costing me a fortune!

Welcome to pm.. not sure if we can post sites

I used to just like pasta twists with tuna, sweetcorn and extra light mayo.

I don't eat pasta any more though and I don't like rice.

can't beat a classic, bit of black pepper to spice it up a bit too. You can also add chilli seasoning b&m has a large range of spices and seasoning to change the flavour so it doesn't taste the same all the time.

Avoid cheap tuna though, John west with springwater all the way.

You can have it warm out of the pan or cold so you can do a big pan up and it'll last you a few days.

In the paleo/low carb world, pasta is about as far from healthy as you can get.

I hated cauli before I started low carving eight years ago, now I adore it! Small chunks, fried in bacon fat, lard, ghee or dripping and then covered in butter, salt and cheese......

Oh wow that's another one to try thank you.

I've made cheesy roast tattie things , they turned out brilliant.

Tesco even does cauliflower rice now which I find great if I'm being really lazy.

Try the slimming world website.

Also the Hairy Bikers series of books is excellent.

Talking of cauliflower rice, I shall be testing this out next week .. What would you add to make it less bland?

Honestly try the cauliflower rice and courgette pasta , so much nicer I think than that stuff and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Try this one, it's good with pasta or rice. I call it Beany Boll.

250-350g of Chestnut or closed cup mushrooms. Buy them loose, they are cheaper.

1 tin of tomatoes, whole or chopped but you'll chop them anyway.

Tomato puree

1 tin of Chickpeas

1 tin of Kidney beans

1 Onion

1 Pepper, whatever colour you are in the mood for.

Salt and Pepper plus Paprika, Basil, oregano or whatever you prefer. I often add a little Jerk seasoning or a very little Chilli powder. Just a small amount though so as not to overpower it.

Sweat the onion, chop and add the mushrooms, then the pepper, tomatoes, tomato puree and beans. Add the seasoning and simmer for about 20 minutes.

The combination of Chickpeas and Kidney beans gives it a meatiness, a bit of bulk. Depending how you serve it you might get 5,6 or more servings out of it so it is ideal from freezing. Then just have it with Spaghetti, rice or whatever you are in the mood for, hot or cold.

I forgot to say add about half a pint of water, or enough to get the sauce to the consistency you like.

Cup-a-soup. Just don't open the sachet. Zero calories. And you can have it hot or cold, any flavour you like!
