Ok so us women often get slated by single males for miss labeling ourselves as "curvy" when we are actually "ample" I for one am prob guilty of this but here is my question n please play nicely cos bitching on each other is so ugly
Why do we label ourselves as we do
This question is for men as well as plenty of men label themselves as "athletic" when they are "average"
My reason is that I don't like the word ample not sure what word fits that is nice though

Don't see why we should be labelled at all.
Different people see others differently and should decide themselves if they're attracted to the individual
Where some see curvy, some see ample and vice versa.
If it matters, label yourself how YOU see yourself not what others think

Since you can't search by body size etc. it has always struck me as odd that you have to arbitrarily choose a category to belong to. I picked the one I could live with since there wasn't one for 'podgier than I like to be but working on it'. I have photos anyway for people to make their own mind up. |

Sadly, with so few choices to pick between it can be quite difficult to select the perfect category (unless you very obviously fit into one of them)
The other, and a little more subjective...
Everyone rightly or wrongly will see themselves fitting into a category they think is correct for them.
So you pick this.
BUT
Many other people have their own standards and definitions of these categories.
So I might think I am average, where some might go you are more ample.
And I imagine even more difficult for women, as so may stereotypes as to what a size and shape falls under.
Just because they are not super skinny or athletic, they might think of them self as large (in comparison to the smaller size) when in reality, they are very normal and very healthy in size and shape.
I don't think it is something that we can ever 'win' at.
As everyone has an opinion and it might not agree to the category you have set.
But if people are superficially judging and are going to start sending messages pointing this out (I appreciate it can be cruel) but these most probably aren't people we want to meet.
Define yourself how you want and sod the rest of us.
I for one don't make decisions or judgement based on size an shape.
That's why I like going to clubs, as I am meeting a person not just a description and size.

I agree that the descriptions are not that great, especially for men. It just a case of choosing what you think matches your shape best.
As long as there are decent full length photos on the profile then others know what your shape is anyway. |

I'd love to put myself a fabulous, coz who wouldn't? But as i'm nowhere near BBW i thought i'd best not.
I'm none of the categories really (apart from fabulous haha) so picked ample. I'm not curvy coz when i was growing up curvy meant shapely and without a pot belly.
I'm the same as most others here, i just have pics up to show what i look like and try to post recent ones when i'm up for meeting. |

I get messaged on a weekly basis telling me I've picked the wrong category. I went what what suits me best out of the limited options. I really don't believe anyone bypasses all the photos and bases their decision on the body type selected anyway, as already said above, you can't search by it so it seems a bit pointless. |

Im not curvey yet im not ample
Many men will say anything to get you into bed as flattery does work to a degree
I hate bbw yet people class me as one yet looking at bbws in usa where the term came from im nowhere near
I look at a profile if im drawn to them and them to be. Jobs done.

This made me look at my profile to see what I had put, I was amazed when I noticed I am within 10 miles of myself.
As for the size thing, I don't think it matters really, if some folk don't like a particular body shape, no matter how you describe yourself, the pic's will tell them what they want to know anyway, the description is a bit obsolete when you have photos. I think we all have our "ideal", but we lean a long way to both sides of it in reality. |

I would say I'm ample because there's plenty of me to go around. What I don't want is someone turning up and doing this because they didn't realise I'm a lardy arse |

Said loads already I'm sure but not sure labelling helps really. If 2 people plan a meet then that is when photos can be swooped if not already on profile.
Then before the meet each know what to expect.

But I would have to disagree (in my opinion)
Having just had a look through your lovely photos, I would not class you as large in size.
(I don't like ample for a description)
So for me.. Curvy not large.

And it is just as I mentioned in my post above, everyone has different ideas as to what 'category' they think people fall under.
so keep sticking to the category you feel more comfortable with.

I don't like labels for the way we look. It's all subjective. A photo would be fine for me. I know they can be shopped but I think they give a better idea than a word. |
