The orginal Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy Krueger is so scary, thu in some ways, I think it has something to do with the fact that it was the 1st horror I ever seen. Thu 25 years later I still remember.......

1, 2 Freddys coming for you.

3, 4 Better lock your door.

5, 6 Grab your crucffix.

7, 8 Gonna stay up late.

9, 10 Never sleep again.

There hasn't been a decent horror for years.

I hate the current trend for re-makes. They are usually poor quality and crap. Especially American re-makes of Japanese films. The Eye, The Grudge etc etc. The originals can be quite scary, atmospheric, with very little visual horror, they rely on the build up, the sounds etc. Their American counterparts on the other hand rely on CGI, and pure blood splatter.

I saw The Collector (not by choice) fairly recently and it scared the shit out of me. It's the first time I've ever been to the cinema and thought that I might have to leave halfway through. I don't do horror movies. Apparently it wasn't bad as horrors go though!

One of the scariest horror scenes ever is an old silent movie where a vampire is seen walking up a staircase with long talons and a bald, pointy eared head...it was called Nosfaratu and was filmed in 1922. It's in full on YouTube.

Considering it's age it's still bloody scary!!

This is a very creepy film, I think made even creepier by it being silent and all shakey cameras and bad quality image. Superb!

Femme I'm pretty sure Max Schreck wasn't intending to give you the horn with his performance but each to their own lol.

I think I'll leave that to your fella.

I've never excelled at accents, for instance my Welsh sounds like Indian but not vice versa, My Indian sounds like totally ridiculous.

any way back on thread

Blair Witch Project?

I'm still undecided about it, it made me feel uneasy afterward. Definitely a marmite movie.

Thought I was the only person who wouldn't get into the bath after seeing

Jaws

Not a horror film but the original Stepford Wives always scared me and the mask in scream

Love the suspense of a good horror rather than ghosts, ghouls or blood and guts

I agree that not many truly scary films are made now, it really gets me angry when I see adverts for horror films rated 15!!! that's not horror!!

I much prefer to read horror/thriller books, which allows me to conjure up my own pictures Best author of all time in my mind was Richard Laymon, he was a genius!!

Off to do a new post me thinks

I'm guessing I'm allowed to post a URL from somewhere as reputable as Wired.com

Some of those films are not horror. Shaun of the Dead??? Not a horror, a comedy. I'm even personally contesting Jaws. I wouldn't put that in a horror genre.
