I'm going down to Norfolk tomorrow with the family for a week (staying near Norwich)

Obviously since I'm with the family I'm not looking for fab action but I've never been to that part of the world before. Anyone know of any hidden gems of places or things to see while we're there? I will ofcourse pass them off as my own idea. Thanks

Titz Towers, North Notts

Sherringham is lovely. The Muckleburgh Collection is worth seeing, Holt is nice, but pricey, but worth a steam train journey from Sherringham. Wroxham is worth seeing just so you can shop at Roy's.

Which side of Norwich?

It's 30 years (omg ) since I lived there, but Great Yarmouth used to have a big pleasure beach, stock-car racing and a donkey derby/racecourse

Menston near Ilkley

From what I've heard they're very family orientated in Norfolk.

They still do, my hometown was there last weekend

Norwich castle is worth a look if you're doing family stuff. Great Yarmouth itself is worth a look for the seafront and pier and aforementioned Pleasure Beach at the far end

Norwich Castle museum, Pensthorpe as featured in spring/Autumn watch, Holkham Hall and beach, and plenty of Victorian seaside towns around the coast. Other than that we have a great selection of tractors across the county

They did have a Dad's Army museum, if you were stuck for something to do.

Thanks everyone, I'll keep these ideas in mind, especially the castle & villages. Old before my time, but I do love wondering round a quaint or rustic village

Lowestoft and Beccles are Suffolk, us Norfolk folk don't normally stray into enemy territory lol

In all seriousness though try some of the north Norfolk villages and beaches. Horsey mere is not far from Norwich and is a national trust beach.
