Particularly Avatars - the inconsistency in Pic Moderation is not acceptable and the fact that no explanation is then given other than "click on the link but don't expect an answer" really is very poor. The fact that Mods not have to explain their actions (I know some are happy to and this isn't a dig at them) isn't on either. As is getting a "Time out" for not agreeing.... I'm a Mod on two forums and if I do something then I damn well have to say why I did it. I know Mods are volunteers but if you choose to do it then you should accept the fact that not everyone is going to agree and may well question it. Particularly Avatars - the inconsistency in Pic Moderation is not acceptable and the fact that no explanation is then given other than "click on the link but don't expect an answer" really is very poor.
The fact that Mods not have to explain their actions (I know some are happy to and this isn't a dig at them) isn't on either. As is getting a "Time out" for not agreeing....
I'm a Mod on two forums and if I do something then I damn well have to say why I did it.
I know Mods are volunteers but if you choose to do it then you should accept the fact that not everyone is going to agree and may well question it. I know what you're saying, or you could take the view that, in effect, we are often asking for a temporary relaxation of the rules to get a pic approved that might otherwise break the rules. In these instances it is understandable that those at the top would want to review any possible exemptions themselves. Ours was on the 'copy someone else' challenge, mrs ddc was trying to imitate the blank silhouette avatar using a balaclava on backwards. With hindsight it obviously looked like a gimp mask! But we explained, and promised we'd delete it after a few days, and all was well. | |||
