I've got fuck all to do for the next few months - would rather be at work.

It's not over-rated at all.

Hereabouts

I'll swap with you. I'll go to work and you sit around in pain at home whilst babysitting a screaming child and two hyper puppies who like to bite. Work is definitely not overrated. I'd rather be working

Work is needed when bills need paying

Is it the puppies that bite or the child?

It depends. Life can be really good if you aren't working and have enough money to get by. It isn't a straight choice between working and doing nothing.

I am a little strange as I quite look forward to work as it does not seem like a job more a pastime.

Exactly!

It's all about the money for me - I don't enjoy my job and need to find something I'm passionate about - it's getting me down

But I have been unemployed and I know that it's equally soul destroying!

Isn't it time to retire yet?

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Its not a work ethic with me, its a desire to eat food and heat my house.

Not for you no . But a combination of circumstances gave me the opportunity to take early retirement last summer and although I work from time to time if I want to I can honestly say that I don't miss it at all.

That sounds like bliss

working from time to time when it suits is perfect

I'm jealous!

Having something to do is important but doing things when you WANT to do them is the key!

Good for you xx

Thank you. I have to say I can't believe my luck. We aren't well off by any standards but I think we have our priorities right.

Having had the joys of redundancy in the past, I'd happily shovel shit rather than be workless. As someone's already said, not working can be soul destroying.

Newcastle upon Tyne

I was fortunate a few years ago to get three months garden leave on full pay. In the months leading up to it I was really looking forward to it, by the end of month one I was climbing the walls. So much so I went out and got an agency job.

Not working is only fun if you have the money to fill the time and somebody to share it with.
