Just a hint - Under the Strafrecht (Criminal Laws) no Swiss citizen may be transferred to another state in case of crimes linked to corruption or other related matters.
Most Swiss (incl. my hubby) wish that Sepp Blatter is exiled to the Moon, believe me... From a family of "nothings" he has now a net taxable value of around £ 9 million..

They're not going to get away with it this time. There's just too much of an investigation by two countries going on now.
Hopefully the FIA ( Motor racing ) will be next. they're just as bad.! |

Maybe that is why Blatter hasn't been arrested this time. None of the ones arrested are Swiss. It will be interesting to see what happens next time Blatter sets foot in a US extradition friendly country though. |

What is remarkable is that with all of this going on and with the FBI explicitly saying that Blatter has not been cleared of wrongdoing, that the organisation still thinks it appropriate to conduct an election with Blatter as a participant. The organisation is rotten to the core (sadly a lot of people involved in the business side of football are corrupt) and it needs dismantling and rebuilding. |

At least with Russia you could think well, it's got football pedigree. Yeah it's got brutal policing but so did Brazil. You know they've bribed the win but at least it's do able.

Wrong the Statesanwaltschaft Zurich has been chasing Blatter for years but no one dares to give evidence against him. The ones that do are already involved in other criminal cases in Switzerland and therefore under Swiss Laws can not give evidence against another party.
Anyway of the ones arrest 7 have stated that they would fight the transfer to the USA and therefore this can take over 1 year before they can legally be moved to the USA - the last post on the way is the Bundesgericht in Lausanne who then decides if there is a case against the party being "removed" on behalf of a 2nd country.
Again for the records the Swiss don't like the Fifa nor Blatter and petitions have been made to have the whole lot moved out of Switzerland... But what the people want some at the top don't want... Same story allover |

Sepp is somewhat like a dictator of a military state he has to keep control or the next guy will open a massive can of worms the truth will come out eventually and we will see the real depths of the corruption unfortunately I doubt Sepp will be around when it happens |

Seems as though this is a joint Swiss/FBI operation. The charges are just the top of the iceberg I suspect, that the 2010 World Cup award was achieved with bribes and also the 2011 presidential election (of Blatter) was corrupt. Both the 2018/2022 finals awards are being investigated. |

you get the 'partners in crime' in for questioning.
show them the evidence and then give them the choice.
1)tell us everything and get reduced sentence.
2)or keep what you know about the old man to yourself, and get 20 years in shared accomodation.

I'm going to laanch a new FIFA - Fabs International Football Association. Totally transparent, all bribes will have to be declared and the highest one will win, will make the process a while lot easier to manage! |

1990 Switzerland sign a joint agreement with the USA which came into power per 1997 - So under this agreement the authorities in the Satates can demand help in criminal cases, but then again they have to go with the Swiss Laws. The person accused must provide evidence that he is innocent not like in the UK where you are innocentuntil the proof is on the table that you are guilty. So the arrest must provide evidence that they did not take money or aid to provide services to others against any fiscal rewards. This will be difficult as the US Fifa representative recorded all discussions with the arrested guys and has turned "super grass" against this "friends" for lesser charges in the States.

I'd recruit the mods to be my ethics committee, nothing gets past them. And I won't need to worry about meets, I will just control everything so all bribes etc can simply be co-ordinated by me. |

b) not accepted it at all.
Surely, with corruption, you are either corrupt or not. You simply can't say £100m's worth is corrupt, £16k isn't.

its a bit of an interesting moral dilemma, no doubt FIFA is or has been riddled with corruption, bungs and iffy 'hospitality' for years..
then again so has the Olympics..
and some of the above certainly apply in business and are no doubt seen as perks for the position they hold..

I agree should have handed the watch back and not accepted it. Although it does seem like there could be possibility of european countries not playing in the world cup now Platini said UEFA and european countries may not participate if Blatter is re-elected. |

As I understood it those parts of the world felt left behind and under Blatter's leadership they have benefited from the building of facilities and funding to advance football locally.
Africa, Asia and South America are made up of many countries. If each has one vote then that's more votes than the rest of the world.

The status quo for the FIFA members, particularly those in the less developed parts of the world means a lavish lifestyle, excess, cash etc etc, voting for Blatter preserves that status quo for the time being, a vote against would mean overnight change. Fifa tournaments such as world cup should be boycotted BUT if you were a player, your dream for the past 20+ years are to play in a world cup and youre not going to not play in it because of it... |

European countries and any other who want to should resign from FIFA membership and form a new organisation.
The money for FIFA would drop massively.
TV revenue would all but vanish overnight.
Organise a world cup in a city who already have the facilities in place to get it up and running. Fifa would collapse in ten years. |
