Anyone familiar with Chesters nightlife? I'm part of a stag do (mixed aged from 20-50+) this Saturday and would like some recommendations please. Is it a nogo for groups of lads? |

I'm in Chester, too, this weekend. Going to the races on Saturday but then have a private function room booked in the evening. Will probably be going for a few jars there on Friday, so if there's anything decent I will try and let you know. |

Head for the Commercial it's in a small square hidden away just off "The Cross", the square gets packed out and if some of you go get beer then they can't refuse you all (more than one door in too).
Mostly whether you get in depends on how pissed the group are, with it being a race day everywhere is busier than normal so the bars may be a bit more picky. That said you should be ok, head for Cruise if you want a night club |

expect plenty of pissed up dicks from the races, puke and fighting later on, it'll be a blast!!
chester races is an excuse for all the knobs to get dressed up to get as hammered as possible and ruin our fair city....
as for a stag do, I can think of many a better destination as Liverpool/Manchester are only just up the road and their pubs and clubs know how to handle large groups of lads

" It's got better in recent years and was no worse than any other town with a race track after a race meet |

Seeing as it's race day, then as the others above have said, it's going to be mega busy.
If you're looking to eat then you'll be scratching around for somewhere, unless you've alredy booked.
Most activity will be along Watergate Street as that's a direct stroll up from the racecourse.
If you want to try somewhere a little further out, try the "Laugh Inn" near the station, or Telford's Warehouse on the Canal.
Other Clubs to try, other than Cruise, are Rosies/RB's(but always going to be full) or the Chester HangMan
Have fun |

About month or so back I was there with a friend who used to be on here.
From what I saw, Chester is full of pubs more than clubs.
Loads and loads of mock tudor pubs. Bit studenty though. |

Chester is a good night out. Start early with it being a races day, don't arrive all together at any bar and you'll be ok.
Start in Bar Lounge but be sure to be there before last race, then follow your nose along Watergate St.
Have a great night. |
