When the nice ambulance man came out to me last night they did something to my finger to draw blood to get a blood sugar reading.. It was like a click with a little plastic machine then he put the end on the blood spot.

Is that the same thing that diabetics have to do??

Fucking hell it really hurt!! It was like the worst paper cut ever!! I thought surely people can't have to do that every day.

Is that what the heel prick test for babies was as well??

I think the heel prick test on babies was to check blood coagulation, didn't they then have some vitamin K

Been so long I can't remember

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

I hate when I have that done.....I even asked the doctor if I can cut myself and they could scoop the blood but he won't let me - my way would hurt way less than that horrible little device

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

They always say it's just a little prick but because it's on your sensitive fingers it hurts a lot.

You should have demanded a cuddle from the hottie paramedic.

I used to have a pin prick test to let me know what my I.N.R. reading was. Although it gives an instant reading, it's not as accurate as having a sample sent to the lab for analysis.

Now I've moved from Erewash Borough, to Derby City, I have to go to the hospital for this procedure, but it's only a 2 min walk for me

The nurse at my GP uses something similar for the little pipette HIV test. We've fallen out over the years and I've gone back to having it as part of my monthly full drawn from the arm blood test - much less painful.

It's to test you have enough iron in your blood, they drop it in a test tube and the drop has to sink Hurts way more than the actual needle in your vein
