You've also now found out why some people choose NOT to reply, but just delete/block |

That's precisely the reason we don't reply to people who don't take our fancy. We are not obligated to respond in much the same way if someone chatted you up in a pub you're not obligated to talk to them. |

There was talk about a 'thanks but no thanks' button,to help in such cases.
It would make life easier for people in this position by removing the chance of saying something that could be misinterpreted.

A perfect rule of thumb, if you're feeling particularly civil, is a 'Thanks, but No Thanks'.., like you already did.
Don't offer any explanation or give a reason why. Its not your place to help anybody deal with rejection by making them feel good about the rejection.
Rejection is part of the game, and if they can't handle it, then they shouldn't be swinging in the first place.
Generally though, it may just save everyone a whole lot of unforseen hassle by just deleting the email. When the sender checks their SENT MESSAGES, and finds you've read and deleted the email, they'll get the message |

You mean sommat like:
"Sod off limp dick, we aren't interested."
or..
"Take a hike bucket fanny, if we want something that cavernous we'll go to The Grand Canyon!"

I can't think of the last time we had an abusive message from a thanks but no thanks.....we've had a few keep trying and trying but even then they have gone away quietly
You really should'nt have to say any more than thanks but no thanks...what on earth do people expect in a rejection mail? A full blown explanation of why you're not compatable?
It true that no wonder people don't reply at all to unsuitable messages

You have to wonder why they messaged you in the first place if they don't think you're all that!
Don't let the experience put you off giving a polite no thanks though. The majority of the people here will just accept it, despite what certain negative and unpleasant people might say. |

Someone once messaged us with a "Like your profile,if you like ours get in touch". Short and to the point. In fact we had another one just today roughly the same.
Definitely the way forward.
We adopted the same aproach some time back.If we don't get a reply and see the message has been deleted it's no big deal.

Yep, agree with that. On a site like this, rejection is a normal thing (at least for me sob sob lol), and it's nice when someone bothers to reply. Can't imagine why someone would be rude back, except I did read somewhere that rude reply emails have got something to do with having a very small penis. |

"The standard rejection response I use is "I think we're looking for different things". Works everytime." But then they come back with 'well you tell me what you'e looking for and I promise I'll match it' ffs |

i said that to a guy last week who had on his profile that he was looking for men aged 54-99 and the wording talked about that too. He replied that he had ticked the wrong boxes...and then came back for thirds asking why i ws still saying no!

We had a mail off a guy last week asking to meet him, I replied very politely explaining that we don't meet single guys and that it does say that on our profile, had a message back asking ' What never ever?'
I probably should have stopped messaging there but after reading a zillion threads on how people have no manners when they don't reply I did, several messages later he got the message, read and delete from now on its not worth the hassle lol x |
