First time I had it was in a bar with my mate he introduced it to me as "green shit" said you said to take the shot, swill it found your mouth for 10 seconds then swallow it.
First shot went well, he went and threw up almost straight away. I had a couple more.........was home for 1.30am with no clue what the fuck happened |

The real one had the hallucinogenic wormwood. That's not in it any more, but the good stuff is still fuck-off strong with other legal herbal flavourings.
The way you're meant to serve it is to take a flat spoonful of sugar, gently dip it in the glass and let the alcohol soak into the sugar then light it. Burn it, caramelise it and stir it in and drink it!

Breif memories...
Main thing I remember is having that amazingly thirst-quenching post-hangover pint of water the next morning ruined...as it must've diluted any left in my stomach and I got pissed again!  |

I like all the cérémonial about it ...the colour, the spoon , the flame .
The very good stuff is very expensive ...I drank more absinthe in NY than in Paris , it's coming back in fashion " la fée verte " , never got d*unk with it ....just " gladding " |
