I,m not a fond lover of dry wines, but They do have their hidden quality,s My Latest one was a white french soave, Certainly cleans the palette, Otherwise white medium/dry wines, lutomer laski reisling, chardonay,s, some are better With a meal, like the red merlots, a Nice german house wine would be a white Liefraumilch by dr wilcomin, a nice piesporter, also like Portuguese rose wine which there are Many, mateaus rose being nice, for a cheap but ok german white wine a bottle of hock from the co-op for just Over £3 a bottle.

I quite like 'Old Camp' Rioja, if it's a gran reserva, (Campo Viejo, as its Spanish name is). Drank it for years and they do shift a good wine. It's probably, almost definitely, not a connoisseurs wine, it's just cheapish plonk.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I like rosé wine. I tend to buy Gallo white grenache or white zinfandel.

More often I'll go for something non-alcoholic though, like Shloer (which I can't be arsed to look up the spelling of) or sparkling cranberry and lime.

If I open a bottle of wine, I can drink the whole bottle in an evening but it's very rare that I'll do it.

"Anything new world BCW

New world wines are wines from countries south of the equator. They tend to be higher in alcohol content because the grapes enjoy more sun so they are sweeter. Sugar=alcohol.

Countries include Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

"Malbec is my current fave "

That's a grape - not a wine

Malbec comes from Argentina or cahoots in France with a diverse range of styles - just saying Malbec is as pointless as saying - I like wine

Says Malbec on the label so thats what I call it.

I'm not really into all that wine tasting oneupmanship. My dad loves all that stuff but ends up getting fleeced by the vintners.

I only have two questions:

Is it less than a tenner?

Does it taste nice?

All else is just fantasy for people with more money than sense.

What drivel!

If the someone says they prefer a particular grape there's absolutely nothing wrong with that whatsoever!!

Someone has their finger up their own bum!

Vinedos Barrihuelo white Rioja. It's not the cheapest, but it tastes bloody marvellous.

My favourite wine at the moment is campo viejo Rioja

Pauls favourite is babish black label Marlborough Sauvignon blanc

Ones about £9 a bottle one about £20. We love wine and have done many wine tastings but were as happy with a bottle of wine from aldi (bushland Shiraz) to a bottle of vintage wine.

If you look at many independent best wine lists there will be wines on there from £8 right up to ££££ a price tag does not make a nice tasting wine and anyone who says it does is just a pompous arse

so that's my pallet... Urm everyone else pallet.... Maybe you should do research and actually look at wine competitions, best wines in each year etc which will be voted by numerous people with advanced pallets.

As I said above pompous arse, what's the saying about men who show off and try to be superior they are often lacking in other areas

Insecure wine wannabe snobs may well reply, - but a good wine is purely down to personal taste, - not necessarily a wine 'expert's' taste, especially as one 'expert's' taste will differ from another's.

So to have the audacity to criticise other's taste is quite frankly both laughable & only exposes ones own ignorance.

The main similarities between an insecure wine snob & a bottle of wine is that they both really don't travel very well, - but when they do, they can be extremely taxing & expect to be waited upon hand & foot.

You are assuming everyone's pallet is equal and valid - there is an exception that there are better wines out there - try a good bottle and see the difference

At the moment... I'm a fan of a French Rose... Famille Sumeire Cotes de Provence Cabaret Rose. It has a cork and everything!

Just bought two bottles at lunchtime... now I just have to make it till Saturday before drinking it!

if you read the text that you quoted you'll realise that you assumed incorrectly.

If you two can't stop with the sly digs, please can you take it to PM and save the rest of us from reading.

My pallet would be most appreciative!
