Reverse image or tineye..

Did anyone know about this before they joined fab?? I know it's not foolproof to out fakes but I'd never even heard of it before I came here.
I'm guessing that it's not a commonly known thing or people wouldn't try and pass off others pics as their own? |

I have been using tineye for a while. It is a good tool. It is not conclusive as the picture on here could have been stolen but on the whole it is a good defence against fake profiles. |

That's why I said in the OP it's not foolproof
Ive searched pics on here and had one or two hits for plenty of fish or Instagram for example which is convincing. When they pull up 200 results from porn sites some dating back before the op was born you know it's fishy!! |

They were new to me. Before I started using them I recognised some big boob models who were in people's pics, though. Now I find them great, but I always have to remember that the person in the pic may have relocated from Los Angeles to Preston, though.  |

The trouble is, it is losing its efficiency. As more people learn about it, more people learn how to get around it.

I know of some apparent photo modifications that can affect it but ive searched pics that have been cropped/zoomed etc and still had results |

I heard about it at school when a friends sex pictures (aged 14-16) went online someone had nicked a fb picture of her and uploaded it with her other pictures someone used tineye and got in contact with her about them.. that was a few years ago now though |

It is not foolproof. There are zillions of photos out there in all manner of websites. It is just a useful indication.
I had a stalker with multiple fab profiles. A tineye search of the last picture showed she was a Russian model. |

It's pretty well known given its a part of Google.
And Firefox addons for it have been around for ages.
But in the older less tech savvy generations it's not well known |

If you have google chrome you can right click the image and the option to search google comes up, click that. Or save the pic and drop it into tineye or in google images, click the camera icon on the search bar and do the same. |

I'd never heard of it and didn't think to have fake pics. I imagine a meet would soon suss you out on meeting and then just say 'no thank you'. It's been a great source of amusement when you think of the panic stricken pounding of keyboard keys when those with copied pics desperately try to hide them. What they don't realise is, of course, the insidious green arrow of truth with forever be a reminder of their slyness. |

I did. I used tineye well before joining here. Google reverse I learned about via forums. Before I could reverse image I used to look on gay websites or google male models with keywords to find stolen pics. I found lots of gay porn models that way and ended up.enjoying the videos |

Thanks for this thread, I downloaded reversee the other day and caught a guy out. I didn't even have any suspicions about him I just tried his pics to test it!  |

I used to use it to find out about a pic.
If someone on say facebook shares a pic of a nice beach etc I would search the image to see where it was etc.
Was on Fab for at least a year before I thought to use it on here  |
