So I'm obviously like 110 years old as since I've never heard of Kik until I came here. Now almost every profile I read either states a Kik / no Kik statement. I could google it, but as the forum is a nice(ish) place to ask. WTF is the deal with Kik??? pros and cons please folks.

"But
You can add photos
Send messages
Without exchanging numbers
Right here on Fab
I don't see the attraction
"
I've been asked for my kik so they could chat to me without having to delete a few dozen messages in between our convo...so that's one incentive. |

Such difficulties lol
In my day we actually wrote letters and waited for the post to arrive
I am happy to delete messages here rather than get hounded to death on any of the apps

I have Kik.
I have never been hounded on there as I am still very choosy as to who I give my user name to.
I find it easier to chat via Kik especially when I am at work etc and it also means I don't have to be logged into Fab. |

I dont use it (can't anyway as it doesnt work on my phone)
I stick to chatting on here, or for a few trusted Fab friends (whether we have met or not) they get my number to text or whatsapp..
You aint missing much OP |

There used to be a thing called MSN messenger, used it for years until Microsoft bought out Skype.
Kik is pretty much identical- except you have to pay for extra smileys & stuff you used to get for free |

Plus you can swap videos on kik, a feature that is missing from Fab. |

"Its just a messenger service for your phone, a bit like yahoo messenger/msn was for your computer back in the day.
I find it hilarious that some people get such thrills from it. "
They get a kik out of it. |

It's whatsapp (so free messaging and picture messaging) but without a phone number basically so if you block someone on it thats it they can't keep ringing you etc |

"It's for anonymous men who would like to send you photos of their cock.
But so is fabs - I have both and no willy pics on either. "
Very true. I delete unsolicited willies on whatever medium.
(Solicited willies are obviously entirely different.) |

glad someone picked up on it!
the msn reference worked well, I was a big msn-er in the day, especially when msn plus was evolving (control space - boss mode was simply amazeballs for hiding away naughty chats!).
right then, for the pretend sake of being a discerning message writer, I'll say no to the kik experience. Sorry to all those kik users that were waiting with baited breath for me to message, I'm afrid it'll have to be fab messages. (don't all rush as once i don't want to have sore fingers from all that typing!)

Kik is an app that combines text and video instantly.
Fab is brilliant but the need to log on or load browser is a time consumer.
Most modern phones/tablets etc keep the app logged on therefore give instant notification which swingers need else they look elsewhere.
More and more apps come out all the time.. hard to keep track which is the most popular.. basically for men it's chasing the apps the woman use most |

Kik or WhatsApp or viber or bbm are instant. That's the advantage over fab. You can have a proper convo with someone. Kik has the advantage over the others as it's fully annoynmous. So much easier chatting to someone on any of them compared to messaging on fab. Photos and vids are a bonus. |

Msn messenger used to be my favourite before it disappeared.
Kik has been around for a fair while- it can be good, but I've only ever used it to chat with people I actually know. It has a habit of freezing though sometimes so it's far from perfect. |

"I reckon most ladies like the anonymity of it all, chance to explore without the fear of some nutter stalking them."
The same as on here then but without the safety of being able to report to admin!!! |

I don't like Kik for these reasons:
1 Once my toast notification has gone I don't get any indication I have a message,so if I miss the toast I'm oblivious.
2 I've had to block almost 20 spam accounts, all young girls.
3 Some men think all it's for is to swap pics and videos, which I don't do. |

I have kik and I like it because you don't need to swap phone numbers to use or access it so is better than texting and
If a name comes up you aren't familiar with you can just block it .,simples |

The disadvantage is once the conversation has moved off Fab people can expect instant responses and become impatient when you don't message back right away. |

Kik is very useful especially on here, I agree with other comments about stalkers etc....
The rule of thumb can be,
1) chat on here
2) exchange Kik, prove validity and maintain some privacy
3) eventually meet socially, club etc....

I like kik, it's faster and easier to use than the messaging on here. Especially since I just about only use my phone, Whenever I'm on the.computer I'm usually working... With kik i get instant messages without having to reload the entire site. And it's easier to keep track of the conversations. Also, I've recently been invited into a couple of chat rooms with locals from my area where everyone is verified. It's a good way to stay connected through your phone. We are also a bit careful about who we give out our username to.. |
