can anyone recommend a reputable tattoo parlour in the north wales/chester area...
as part of my 'things to do when I turn 50' list I have included getting a tattoo....and it's my birthday next week  |

My advice is don't take anyones advice!
Search for tattoo artists next to you and spend a lot of time looking at their portfolio. Don't just go to one you've heard is good and go through with it  |

but surely one that is recommended it good?....and I am asking because there are precisely none near me!! 
I don't mind taking advise if the advise is good but this hasn't really helped  |

No not at all. "Good" is subjective.
I know this because I was recommended a tattoo artist and wasn't pleased with their work.
I wouldn't take anyone's recommendation now. I'd just hunt out the best in the area from looking at their portfolio online.
Maybe I'm just a fussy bugger

A week is probably too short notice to book in with anyone good unless they get a late cancellation.
I had to book in months in advance with mine, and any decent artist with a good reputation will most likely be the same.
