How weird/scary/troubling does a dream need to be to class it as a nightmare?

When you open your wyes after a night on the piss and SHe is actually in the bed with you - it wasn't a dream

When things reoccur in them. Doesn't need to be anything nasty, just really repetitive, over & over. I get that sometimes, horrible.

I get that a lot too... it usually involves me being fucked.... is that a nightmare then?

A while back I was staying at a non-smoking hotel and so decided to try using nicotine patches…. which are said to sometimes cause nightmares if you use the 24hr type. I was explaining to a colleague that I had experienced an element of ‘anxiety’ within my dreams whilst using them. They asked what my dreams were about and I explained they mostly involved me being chased by gangsters after witnessing them kill someone and being shot at, actually shot and on a few occasions I was stabbed.

My colleague was adamant these were nightmares… I didn’t think they were as I didn’t wake up sweating or in a state of panic, I just knew I’d felt anxious whilst dreaming.

Which did then make me wonder, what makes it a nightmare... the things which your brain imagines or the actual physical affect.

That happened to a mate of mine in Ibiza years ago. He woke up to find an absolute horror next to him in bed and decided it was best to leave than wake her up and run the risk of her wanting him to shag her again so he gingerly gathered up his clothes and sneaked out the hotel room.... to be met by me in the hallway... and I asked him why he was sneaking out of his own room!!

In his pissed state he'd forgotten he'd taken her back to his room and thought he was sneaking out of her room... oh we laughed and laughed and laughed on that one... for years!!!

I did 2 summers doing 18-30 holidays reping and it was hilarious watching morning room swooping. I still remember a little welsh lad saying " i never did" to his mates over one north east beauty.
