Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anybody had any experience of "regular" dating sites such as match and eharmony? I've been single for a couple of years now and I'm starting to hate the being alone.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Xx |

I was a gud one but i decided it wasn't what i was looking for ...seen a few of the guys profiles on here which is quite funny as on the dating sites ya not their type but on here they are all over u lol x gud luck x |

My advice is don't do it they set you up to fail. I tried before i met my ex when i was looking for a relationship. Did not get a single meet in 2 years. I have had more meets on here that what i have had on 6 different dating sites. |

We watched a really interesting TV programme on Ch4 last week about Tinder, Grinder, etc.... They look like lots of fun. They also talked about an app called 'Thrinder' for people looking online for threesomes.... Haven't checked it out yet but apps for dating seem to be the future! |

Yeah...exactly...friend of mine is on POF and his profile says looking for relationship...and he is far from it! He is on here and currently really going for it on the meet front lol...he plays with couples mainly as then he gets the shag without the commitment lol... |

Over the years of been single and in a relationships iv found all the sites have plus and negative points its really what you make of it.
If your after than more than a fuck then don't put out for the first few dates if the guy is just wanting fun be will soon run off if he realise that ain't on the table. Lots of guys and women use them sites and lie about what they really want or are after.
So bit of forward thinking and can catch then out. Iv found realtionships from tinder. But also girl who wanted nothing more than a wham bam. |

I used eharmony last year but everyone looked so vanilla! At least here the 'what you into sexually' conversation is easier and people are more likely to not be horrified! I've changed my fab profile text and trying here see if it's a viable option to meet a partner. |

Met my last two LTRs on Pof and I know lots of people who've met and settled from there.
I would say there are lots looking for fun but they're easy to spot once you've been there a while and chatted to lots of people. Just trust your gut. |

I have tried regular dating sites, but it's not for me. Fab is perfect for me right now in my life. I am single and enjoying myself, but sometimes I do want to be in a relationship but..........

Like someone said, be careful if you are looking for love.
Women have a lot of choice on there and it's easy for them to keep 'dating' in order to find their perfect man, whereas before internet dating I think people would give a relationship more of a chance than they do now as it's easy to just find another person to go on a date with.
There are some women who are on there for ages, I'd left and then came back on they'd still be on there.
I think internet dating has made people too fussy!! |

I think that as long as you go into it with your eyes open, then you'll be ok. POF is full of fabsters - the married ones as well. The paid for sites are probably better - but I've had friends with no success who've paid a fortune. A proper dating agency can be great - but it's expensive. Perservere with whichever one you go for.
And strangely enough, saying all that -
I didn't expect it -I've had much more interesting evenings out for dinner/cinema /concerts/weekends away etc from here than on any proper dating site ! You'd think it would be the opposite . |

I thinks it's a case of if in private go with what you like, and to be honest, some guys and girls will screw anything but if you're going out with someone whom your mates/family will see, you're likely fold to social pressure on what you think they see as acceptable.
I had a chance a few years ago (back in college) for a relationship (apparently she was really into me) with a larger girl, really pretty face, but being young and scared of being judged, I turned her down, because I thought that my friends and family would judge me as having settled for "second best" because she wasn't thin. I have regretted it ever since, and if I ever got the chance, I would apologise to her for being such a prig and hurting her by being so blunt and stupid. I know I hurt her emotionally and caused her self doubt about her looks, and I hope she is happy now with somebody who loves her.
Everybody is attractive to somebody else, maybe not the one you want, but someone is out there.

To be honest, one night stands leave me a little cold as I far prefer knowing someone as a friend with whom I am casually and mutually enjoying sex.

Sorry, I didn't think you were having a dig, and I certainly hope I didn't come across as taking one. All I was trying to say is that, as you noticed, most men are only too willing to screw you, but not let their mates see you together, and my behaviour as a teenager is directly attached to that. Letting others dictate my behaviour then is still one of my biggest shames, and I bet it is for a lot of people.

We both knew what we were after, days out/meals, weekends away and fun was good but incompatible work schedules made meeting difficult at times before she got job abroad  |

I have used them before, met some nice people and some crazies, just like real lfe. It happens when it happens sadly. These sites just take the having to chat someone up but out of the equation |

I am single too...and a lot find me strange but a lot understand that i see Samantha as the girlfriend i dont have...still get to buy nice lingerie for her...er me lol

The male half of us was on PoF and OKC before we got together. He had more sex from PoF but they mostly had serious issues. Had a few nice meets via OKC and they were more compatible as there is a better search filter. |
