Sat by the canal in Camden having a drink waiting for my delayed friend from South of the river. It almost has an insular feel to it and does not feel connected to the big city.
Any other little London areas that are quite cool to check out? Thinking of popping to Little Venice? |

"Think I've sat in the same spot.
However, I bloody hated Camden, would never go again. Way to busy for me, like one massive rush hour and all the stalls selling the same things.
"
I'm pretty tucked away from the High street bit but can still hear the thump thump of the music. |

I like the area by London Bridge south side of the river. Have a walk about, drink in the Globe, walk by the river, have a butchers at the Golden Hinde and eat in a nice restaurant. All a stone's throw from the river. |

"Take a look at Shepherd Market, in Mayfair. It is a quaint little Dickensian oasis just off Piccadilly. It used to have a red light reputation but i think it has gone now."
It's very much under threat from redevelopment via rent increases, a lot of the independent businesses (that don't cater to the wealthy) have already had to close around Shepherd Market, Shepherd & Curzon streets. |

If you are near Charing Cross Station, take a walk down Villiers Street, then along the arches under the station. You will come to Craven Passage, another tiny street from a bygone age. The Ship & Shovel Pub is in old buildings on both sides of the street and a lovely place to call in, hidded away but so close to the heart of London. |

Shoreditch is very trendy now.
Primrose hill is worth a bit of a walk about and a pub crawl.
Fitzrovia has some lovely pubs and eating places.
Chiltern street near Marylebone is the up and coming area with some lovely pubs and restaurants.
Blackfriars and up to Fleet Street is well with a crawl.
London has loads to offer. |

Johnny Simon has his shop in chiltern St. He was the first person to sell the Ivy League style loved by the mods. He still stocks genuine Baracuta Harrington jackets like the ones Ryan Oneil wore in Peyton Place |

Ah, I love that bit of Camden Lock...
Used to love sitting canal-side in the area outside Weatherspoons in Summer, pint of Koppaberg and a fag (before I fell pregnant), watching the canal boats and the world go by, ducks/geese chirping, music beating softly from the bar across the bridge, just wasting time without a care in the World.
Ahhh, the good old days...

Area around London Bridge (railway station) is getting pretty trendy- Southwark- Borough Market, Globe Theatre Bankside Power station.
My vote has to go to Greenwich- the old part near the Royal Naval College and hospital where the observatory and Cutty Sark.- Pubs, Parks and stunning views of the city at night. |

Abney Park is celebrating 175 years this year. They had a Victorian Day today. It's one of my favourites to go to. The Salvation Army Booths are buried there too.
If you're going to Greenwich do it via the foot tunnel from Island Gardens.

One of my exes (from 1,000 years ago) was on the team of activists that saved it from being sold to private developers.
I love standing in the middle and forgetting there is any London just a short walk away.
The fact that London has such gems all over the place is the reason I love it so.

I have a Barcuta Harrington. It came with a little booklet with pictures of all the stars that have worn them. The ones I can remember are.
Ryan O'Neill
Elvis Presley
Steve McQueen
Jimmy Dean
And a few others |
