"Why do I really puke and delete when I get a message saying ... 'Come say hi' ........"
Pavlovian response because in the past when you have gone and said hi you have received a message in return that made you hurl like a trooper?

Evolutionary Psychologists would state that your response may be hard wired, Granny, and is an innate aspect of human behaviour.
I'm leaning towards guessing that it's a learned/acquired behaviour, somehow - possibly not Pavlovian though.
Overall, it doesn't take much for me to feel the same when I get those oft repeated first message types. Did I have them when I first came to Fab? Hard to recall now, but it's very possible, so maybe evolutionary Psychology at work. Survival of the fittest, maybe those senders aren't that likely to spread their genes to many offspring. |
