So, having just spent 20 minutes going through security, waiting on my bag to be searched, I'm thinking oops, I know what set the alarm off, those bloody cuffs...

What have you taken through security that's set the alarms off and has the security person waved it around???

Hahahahahhaa Took my son and his friend to Amsterdam but flew in and out of Rotterdam. Sons friend bought his gf a huge vibrator. Stopped and searched PML we were all taking the piss out of him including the staff.... He died a 1000 deaths that day!

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I had a male security guard pull my box of tampax out, look puzzled and start pulling them out one by one. This was in Changi Airport in Singapore.

He was about to start ooening one when a female security guard whispered something in his ear. I've never seen anyone stuff something back in a case so quickly.

Flew into Belfast with some friends a few years ago on a hen do. It involved 80s fancy dress and one woman's Rambo costume and accessories (plastic machine gun and semi-realistic looking bullet belt) didn't go down too well....

Handcuffs didn't set any alarms off, carrying a gross of condoms didn't get any interest (for a friend in Ireland cos they're ridiculously expensive there) and noone cared about the cane.

But carry a vibrator with the battery still in and it counts as electrical equipment and should be taken out and placed in the tray It was a female security officerand she moved some clothes aside, saw what it was then pushed the clothes back and gave me a huge grinand sent me on my way.

Oooh Matron! What a carry on!

I've only flown once, but when I go to Court with work, I'm always tempted to put a random object in my pocket, like a tin of tuna, or the next week a tin opener.

I did have to hand a pair of pliers over to court security once cos I'd forgotten they were in my handbag

But it wasn't till I was sat in the court and went in my bag for a tissue that I realised they'd missed my pen knife

I spent last summer setting off shoplifting alarms. Finally realised that the security tag on a lipstick hadn't been deactivated. After setting the sirens off repeatedly in a local store (amongst others) going in as well as out a friendly store security guy helped me wave the regular contents of my bag past the sensors till we worked out what it was.

A vibrator in Atlanta. I had to tell them every electrical item in my bag and I'm sure he took great delight in asking me over and over again "what else"?

I was mortified and just kept saying I didn't know lol

Just a piece of advice.

If you are taking any vibrators or any other battery operated item with you in your hold luggage, remove your batteries as it could be embarrassing to do it in front of other people.

Had a pair of real police handcuffs confiscated on the way out of the U.S, years before 11/9. I was most displeased as I'd won them in a bet with a State Trooper.

Had to switch some items from one case to another at Brisbane, Australia before going through customs once, as they were in the same case as items that need to been examined before entering the country. I had my 16 year son with me too!

A bottle of wine from an Aussie vineyard, somehow I didn't compute that it was liquid, was more concerned about it smashing in the hold!
