Anyone had this done in a ford dealership, if you have how much did it cost ?
Would rather not go to a back street garage for this sort of work, as they are really hard to do on modern cars with how tight things are under the bonnet now, |

main dealer will know how to charge, find a good small garage, find out average cost by looking on forums about your car, quite a few small garages do have the tools for the job, most modern cars are tight under bonnet |

Cam belts are all about labour costs...The belt kit itself isn't very expensive for most cars...its just the cost of taking a lot of kit out to actually get in to fit it. Never done a main dealer and never had a problem. Main dealer 80 an hour...local garage 40 an hour..like previous advice...good local garage is fine. |

My purple garage is a good option
My experience of cam belts is they are pretty easy to do
Check the timing 3 times and rotate engine 3 times between each check taking spark plug or glow plugs out
It's easy to do just daunting |

I do all my own maintenance. The last Fiesta I had was from late '92 through to mid '95 and that had the old Kent Engine.
I'd bought the car new, so during my ownership I never had to worry about the Cambelt.
Did a Head rebuild on the car I had afterwards - which involved removing the cam belt.
The belt change itself wasn't to tricky or time consuming, but that was a rear wheel drive vehicle and access is a lot easier.
As has been said, the cost of the part is fairly minimal - compared to the labour.
I'm looking to do a full engine rebuild on my car later this year - should be fun, lol |

Plenty of independent ford specialists that will do just as good if not better job on an 8 year old car. A main dealer for a car of that age is a waste of money |

I recently had mine done on my 04 focus £115 inc. labour at my local garage. dealerships rip you off. its only around £45 for the kit itself and any qualified mechanic will find it an easy job. dealerships try and make it sound more labour intensive than it actually is. |
