I'm sure the majority of us have seen the movie Sliding Doors, where you see what could have happened if Gwyneth Paltrow hadn't missed getting on the train!!
Now I've just caught up with an old flame through that popular social media site and found out that if I had done something differently back then rather than step back because of another guy our lives could have taken a totally different route!!
Do you have a sliding door moment in life?? Hope not too heavy a thread for a Friday night lol |

Yes all the time but that's life choices. No point dwelling what could or might have been 'if only' who's to say that another door might not have come along and shut right in front of you if you had chosen that path In the first place! |

You can go back to the beginning of time with sliding door moments. If my mum hadn't met my dad, if my grandmother hadn't got a job in the south, if my great x 40 grandparents had been in service in different households, if that first fish hadn't crawled out of the ocean. Life is a series of these moments, fate, random who knows? |

Random - it's random.
And then we get to associate emotions with these happenings, and make them into something they're not. |

The human mind is built to make sense out of everything. Looking for recognized patterns, striving to make meaning, where mostly it's all random shite out there. Whilst brilliant, our minds have in-built design flaws. Like those optical illusions where we see an old haggard woman or a young beauty, we also are naturally gifted with cognitive biases, that twist and distort life, to give us what we think is a clue about our lives.
Choices occur all the time, mostly forgotten about. There's no fate, apart from near certain predictability from some of the choices we make. What's past and chosen, that subway train we missed, is just that. Carry on and make the best of what you have. But remember that your mind will distort your perceptions, so that whatever you may think is reality is likely to be less than you think. |
