For us it's to continue family history through names. Our daughter has my grandmother's name as her middle name our son a name of one of both our brothers. I think it's one more way of feeling connected to wider family.  |

I have my mothers name as my middle name and my daughter has mine. It's been a family tradition for several generations for the eldest daughter to have the her mothers name as a middle name.
My son's middle name is my maiden name as I have no brothers or uncles to carry on the name. |

It's sometimes as a dedication to a family member or friend. Mine is Mary after my nan. Our daughters is the same as my other nans middle name, Violet, a beautiful name x |

Well.......actually....there are two more stuck In the middle officially, but I just refuse to acknowledge or use them now as they're so ridiculous, they only appear on one document I'm aware of.....so it can get just a wee bit sillier  |

My middle name is there purposefully for my partner to laugh at.
Not only does he think both my names are porn star names (Jasmin Amber) they are also 2 of the girliest names possible for a girl who was basically raised as a boy... I never owned a dress or doll in my entire childhood (thankfully) - I was given power rangers and tool kits and it's always amused me lol |

Several generations of firstborns have had the same name in my family, but the buck stops with me cos I'm not about to start being a parent anytime soon.

I have 4 middle names, Anne Anita Yolande Leonetta! Anne is my mothers mother and the rest are the women my fathers side! I never use them but they are on important things like my passport and driving licence, makes everything a bit long! |
