Attraction is in the eye of the beholder - my age limit is about 40, 45 tops but if they had it all going good for them I wouldn't let it stand in the way if they had aged well.

Even though im 44 my upper age limit is 48. I found the majority of people over that age that contacted me I was not attracted too. I think thats jyst my personal choice.not agest |

I wasnt but I do think it's ageism because we are assuming that a person of under or over a certain age won't be attractive to us and there must be exceptions to that.
Like bet the chap on the Direct Line advert is over our upper age limit but I would most definitely meet him  |

I was like this when I was single and dating. Most guys over 50 looked like my 80 year old dad . It was something to do with the mouth .
Luckily Prom was an exception

I'm not ageist outside of fab,or if I am it's something I try to address and change (with so many things, we have no idea until someone with a different perspective points it out) my work means I interact with everyone in the community and I am expected to get on with everyone. It's defiantly ageist to outright dismiss someone for their age regardless of the situation, regardless of 'preference', it just means your preference is ageist. I am. I won't play with anyone my age or older, not even with myself.
Tbh it's not really an age thing, there are a fair few guys i consider hot who are above my age limits, just generally my inbox gets filled with the not attractive ones so i put a limit on that gets ignored. Same for younger ones, i find them too young looking and it puts me off them. |

Not too young, and not too old is my initial thought.
Judge everyone on their merits though...if you're hot then you're HOT Plenty of ladies within my age range that I DON'T fancy, and some outside my age range that I DO fancy...judge everyone on their merits...sexiness and 'appeal' work for me when I'm looking, and make the difference if I'm going to contact them or not...

Maybe once upon a time, but there are some absolutely stunning women on her 20-30 years older then me, so i no longer put a upper limit on, depends on the lady, plus its seems the more mature ladies dont fare too badly with the younger lads |

For me ageism is discrimination based purely on assumptions about age.
I don't think that sexual preferences are ageism or discriminatory. Something like sex requires that one person is sexually attracted to the other. So if I was rejecting a person a person for sex it would be based on both their appearance, behaviour, demeanour and sexual likes and dislikes.
There's quite a lot of ageism at large though - in general. That's against the young and the not so young |

I think society and media does neglect old people a fair bit. I didn't even know that your pubes go grey and i'm wondering what happens when my hair goes gray on my head, and that granny programme on ch4 was interesting because they don't really talk about old people being sexcualised, in fact the expectation is often they stop having sex coz 'only young people are sexy'.
