There is no fate, or is there?

I usually don't post in-depth things but found this interesting question. I found it somewhere and thought I wanted to see what you thought of it:

Do you ever wonder if you just weren't meant to find what you want? That is to say, that your personality type, your nature, the way you fit into this world, doesn't facilitate this eventuation? For example, demographics.

My take on it yes, as you do find the odd fun here and there, but you never really truly find what you are after

I don't believe in fate myself, But meeting someone at the right time in both your lives could be described as fate

I don't know if fate exists or if life is just a series of interconnected, random events.

I do think that some people will never find what they're looking for just because it works out that way, some because it doesn't exist and some because they always want what they haven't got.

I believe in fate, although it could be argued, that the same events would have happened anyway. Karma.....

There's no fate, but death.

The narrower the selection of people or pleasures that will be satisfying for you, potentially the tougher it MAY be, to become fulfilled.

Eg, if someone is in the top 1% in the population for intelligence and needs an equal, not a close fit, then they are only able to select from within 1% of the people - a small pot.

We can decide to become less rigid. Being single also has a lot going for it.

I'd like to hear Shag talk more about his appreciation for himself as I sometimes feel I have more love for him, than he reveals, apart from his appreciation of his muscles. I've not said that too well, as I'm tired and been a little unwell today.

A club not so many miles away

I strongly believe in fate. Too many things have happened in my life not to. Although we can change which direction we take in life and can chose what we do with our lives, when it's our time to go, regardless of what we do to prevent it; death will take us when it's our time.

Everything you do in life is creating the day you die lol you could step of the pavement etc and get killed by a car/bus,but if you stayed on the toilet for an extra 3 seconds in the morning, the car might not of been there

Some people think my language is a bit flowery, but why shouldn't it be?

Surely 'fate' is all there is?! There is no alternative, whatever happens happens. Beyond building a time machine, there's nothing you can do to change what happens to you in your life. You constantly make decisions throughout your life which can change it's course but at the end of the day it is what it is.

Unless of course you believe in alternate universes or multiverse theory where different 'fates' are being played out in other dimensions. Not that these would have any bearing on this world you're living in.

I do not think anything is predetermined. I do think the choices we make have consequences that at some stage we will experience the effect of them. There are events that when we reflect on them as a whole can show the pattern of our life choices and perhaps an underlying purpose. Based on that we can then continue to make choices that enable that purpose to be fulfilled to a greater or lesser extent. The only certainty is that death will end our mortal existence at some stage. Whether we can make sense of that event in some other plane of consciousness - I haven't got a clue

Are you completely at the mercy of a predetermined outcome? No.

Does stuff happen which is good or bad which you have little or no control over? Yes.

Can you do stuff to put yourself in a better position to make best use of opportunities? Yes.

My gut reaction is I don't believe in fate, but I do believe the power of your mind, conscious and subconscious influences your own fate.

However there are quite often times that seem well beyond my influence that seem like, fate. This doesn't mean I feel my path is chosen, I just think life can be funny.

I'm a big believer in coincidence, and the theory of "sometimes shit just happens".

Many things about our lives are under our control and we can change how it goes. Some things are not, but that's not fate.

If fate exists then choice does not.

Unless there is some kind of 'multi-fate' where you choose which predetermined fate you're going to have by the decisions you make.

That's probably not fate though.

Choice or fate, I prefer the idea of choice.

"Choice does not always exist."

But we can still choose how we react behave and handle the situations and events that we have no control over in life......x

We need to believe so. I think we behave very differently when we have that belief.

No... For me, the idea that we are on a predefined plan just seems ludicrous. It would also suggest that there is some sort of architect of our collective fates. Can you imagine the logistical issues involved in getting everybody on the planet to the right place at the right time... all of the time. We can't even manage to get a group of five people all in the same place for a curry.
