Do you have a country in mind?

How long a train journey?

Can say yes to a few, but not if you want an hour trip on a UK train, Canadian, Russian and Australian railways I would be happy to pass on my experiences.

Been jumping on and off trains on holiday all over Europe for the last 20 years, travelling with little in the way of forward planning most of the time...you get to see some amazing things and meet some truly amazing people that way...and occasionally get into some dodgy situations!!! It's HIGHLY recommended as a great way to see the true nature of the countries you're visiting.

This year going to the States though, and hiring a motorbike...it's certainly going to be different!!! I can't wait

West Yorkshire.

The rail holiday I have always wanted to do but sadly will elude me is to travel from Darwen down to Tasmania in Aus, with regular stop off points for 24 hrs on the way. Watched a Chris Tarrant programme recently on TV where he travelled the cab in the opposite direction lucky man.

then across the border... and do vancouver to toronto coming back... then toronto to new york via niagra falls....

thats a good 10 day journey!!!

the good lands, the bad lands, the any where you may want me lands

some years back I caught the first class air con from Garakapor on the Nepal border to Delhi. took 14 hours, not any sign of air con on the train at all, the guard said that we get in our compartment and whatever we do, we don't get out till the train stops 14 hours later and out of the window we see a heaving mass of humanity and the Red Fort. We were totally unprepared for any of this, didn't even have a pee bottle, didn't take anything to drink with us, and nothing to eat, it was an experience that I haven't seen Michael Portello reliving
