My very, very first gig - Bob Dylan at the Royal Albert Hall in May 1966 - when he "went electric". I bought a leather jacket from C&A's especially for it! The gig was wonderful, up there with gigs by The Clash, The Ramones, Big Audio Dynamite and Jimmy Webb in my all-time five best-ever. The leather jacket saw me through my college days, until it was nicked while I was at a Kinks gig in 1971. It felt like the end of my young days, somehow. |

To be fair, Vinnie Moore reins it in a bit with UFO, he's a brilliant guitarist and there's not a lot he can't play; even if left to his own devices, it's neo-classical, shred bollocks! |

"UFO and Girl 1978 Liverpool Empire
I thought UFO were the best rock band in the world at that time...
They were fantastic. Sadly Schenker went off the rails and they couldn't recapture the magic of the Strangers in the Night tour
For me...... Strangers in the Night, is without doubt the greatest live album of that genre ,,,,,and the perfect requiem for Phenomenon, Force-it, No Heavy Petting, Lights-Out and Obsession which will always be what I consider their halcyon era...
They were brilliant with Chapman on 'The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent' tour...as good as the Schenker days in my opinion.
Chapman was a brilliant player with UFO, way better than the current guy is! Some good live stuff available with PC on it, Marquee Club 1980 show is stunning as is the Hammersmith 83 set
To be fair, Vinnie Moore reins it in a bit with UFO, he's a brilliant guitarist and there's not a lot he can't play; even if left to his own devices, it's neo-classical, shred bollocks! "
yeah but he's very wooden/leaden, no feel, just technique, no Michale or Paul! |

Van Halen and AC/DC on the same day! I was 8 and sat on my dads shoulders all day. It changed my life...
I was at that one as well. Gary Moore and Motley Crue were on as well if I remember correctly
And Ozzy, Accept & Y&T...best Monsters of Rock ever; apart from the minibus company leaving us stranded there after we stupidly paid them after the outward journey!"
LOL I went on coach from London with a mate, stunning day and got back ok, we were er "approached" by Jonathon King in the afternoon, being 2 well good looking 14 year old lads and he was as creepy as fuck so we told him where to go, the bands were incredible, the sun shone and the bogs bloody STANK |

Yes, queued for 4 hours last February, got 20 feet from the doors and they closed them. Security then said there would be a second show that night so queued for another 2 hours. Got a 2 hour show from 11-1am for 10 quid. Was it worth the wait? You've seen him, you know it was. Took my son to Birmingham last may for his first time, which the 21st for me! |

I saw Selecter a few weeks ago in Coventry, half expected them to just crank out a jukebox of their hits and some covers, by numbers, but they were brilliant! really energetic, tight, and Pauline Black had bags of charisma. Support band The Tuts were excellent too, if you like grrl-band punk with attitude |
