Why is he hidden away on daytime slots and late at night. A far more effective interviewer than anyone who does the primetime stuff. Admitedly his style probably isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he certainly knows his stuff and is very good and getting answers from politicians and if not making them look very silly.

Agreed, he is always well researched and asks probing questions. I remember his interview with Natalie Bennett well and she was destroyed and made to look stupid.

You don't need to be a great interviewer to manage that though...

He is having a field day on BBC2 in a defence debate at the moment, taking no prisoners from any quarter. Also made Boris Johnsons Dad look very silly on the Daily Politics show earlier. Would love to see more of him.

He is too good to be sidelined. The only TV journalist who seems able to get proper answers and make you feel you have learned something rather than the usual waffle.

He is a great interviewer, would much prefer to see him on prime time than some of the weaker newbies. His book about when he was editor of the Sunday Times is a good read too.

He is also very entertaining company after a couple of glasses of wine!
