Big Bang?... or Big Bounce?

Just watched a very interesting programme on Beeb2 which totally throws the Big Bang theory on it's arse.

I've never believed that everything in the universe came from nothing, it just doesn't compute logically. There HAD to have been something before.

Scientific belief is now that instead of one almighty explosion that gave us the universe and everything in it there has been a succession of contractions and inflations whereby the unverse contracted to almost nothing and then gravity expelled it all outwards again.

And it's been happening for gadzillions and gadzillions of millenia.

Apparently we're on the outward bounce of this phase of universal expansion so we got a fair old while yet before we have to start thinking, "Bollox, we're fooked!"

So now we know we're all safe and can sleep well tonight.... who fancies a shag to celebrate?

I love things that really make one think and I've always loved 'spacey' things ever since I was a nipper. I'm gutted I was born in the wrong century as I firmly believe that within the next 50 years or so we'll hop on a shuttle to Mars as easily as hopping on a train or bus. I wish I could be around to leave the planet and just look back on it once in it's massive entirety. That would be my one wish if a genie ever granted me one.

well virgin just done a test flight on their new shuttle today. and the way i see it is from the early days of flight to making the jet was a massive step in a short time. so yeah i think it will be possible too.

It's all conjecture.....next month or next year there will be other 'learned' scientists on the Discovery channel with yet another theory.

it's all 'best guess'

yes but !!! we havent really come that far from the jet engine !!!!

we need to look at some completely new form of propulsion if we want to travel to the stars and even then they are that far away that it will still take generations to get there

luton

the expansion from a single entity (repeated) has been around for a number of years now

in my veiw the conundrum is far too complex to solve

there is even now talk of more than one universe , mayby thousands

for all we know the universe might be like a flea on a camels back in the middle of the sahara , and the universe that camel is in might be one of millions

i was more interested in the proggrame prior to that , time team

did you see the size of that viking turd !

i just meant look at the advance from the first plane to the jet. so whos to say what the advance from this virgin shuttle will be. not the starship enterprise obviously but science will look at something to get us to our near planet or the moon.

but having said all that im still waiting for my hover car like on the jetsons!
