I need some advise.

Last night I was getting a blowie off my girlfriend and when I looked down I could see she had head lice. Not loads , but a good few. Now should I tell her , I don't want to risk hurting her feelings as she is Mrs P's best friend.

if you or Mrs P cant tell her! Who can?

Discuss it with Mrs about who should tell her. Nothing too uncommon if she works around kids or has them! Easily dealt with.

Sure a little embarrassment her end but easily sorted!

Offer to use a nit-comb the next time she's down there.

No. Don't tell her.

She will realise she has them from the itching. You bringing it up will only embarrass her.

Just tell her. It's no big deal, easy to treat. Anyone in a family where there are kids will have had them at some point.

It's a bitch if you have long hair though, those combs do snag.

Can head lice survive in the pubic area ?

I'm fairly close shaven down there but is it advisable to shave it all off now ?

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

rule number 1 in these scenarios

-don't tell her directly. unless you really want to make her feel sh1t.

best to tell her 'you know/have heard' its come back + big problem these days.

eg - some people have it, but do not say she has it. she will prob have good exam herself next time in shower/bath/bed

"Can head lice survive in the pubic area ?

Shave it and flea bomb it just to be sure.

On a serious level, if she has kids or hangs out with any that's probably where she got them. They are rife at some schools since not all parents treat for them when there's an outbreak which.means they just keep getting passed on. It's not unusual for parents, carers, child minders and relatives to get them.

"Can head lice survive in the pubic area ?

No.

Head lice have claws designed to hold on to the finer thinner scalp hair; very occassionaly they may be found in the eyebrows.

Pubic lice are, similarly, adapted to the thicker coarser pubic hair although, in very heavy infestations, they can make it to the eyebrows as well.

Best way to get rid of them is loads of conditioner and a head lice comb. Do it every evening until no more come out. Check again every few days.

If this is serious and you could actually see them in her hair there is not much chance that she's unaware of them.
