I've been clearing out some books and came across a long forgotten book - Why men love bitches!
It defines a bitch as nice, she's sweet as a peach. She smiles and is feminine. She just doesn't make decisions based on the fear of losing a man. She never allows someone to be her priority whilst she's just an option.
My first serious bf told me it was my aloofness that first attracted him to me and that I didn't wait on his phone calls.
So can some women be too nice and you prefer a bitch? |

Most close to me describe me as a lovely woman..l do have a cheeky nature and tend not to chase men but to my downfall I wear my heart on my sleeve. I've got a lot tougher though so tend to speak my mind. |

"Was there ever a sequel 'Why Women love Bastards'?
"
I've no idea, but I think there's something in that. We often go for the guy who's termed as the bad boy ! I confess I have in the past! |

I wouldn't say I was a bitch but judging by that definition I am.
Sometimes if I was them (not jay) I'd tell me to fuck off lol.
My mum said to me one day that no one can argue with me as I just tell them to fuck off and not come back.
But I am pretty sweet |

I get called aloof and Ice Queen a lot. (the latter by my own mother) i think men prefer women who are strong minded tbh. Unless they like easily controlled/manipulated women. |

"Last I checked, it was called not being a doormat..."
Agreed, but some people do end up being one. Even of they weren't always one. Dynamics in a relationship often change over time. |

Been told by my bf that what attracted him to me was my aloofness and that seemed hard. In reality I am not, as when people know me I always give people the benefit of the doubt, see the good in everyone and would do anything for anyone. However, that said, I don't suffer fools gladly and tell people exactly what think because I know my own mind. Comes of bee g a single parent, working full time in a high pressure job and having to do it all on my own I always thought. Part of the reason I was on fabs, because I like my own space and my own company and don't like people in my face. If bitch means independent woman who knows her own mind and is not afraid to speak it, then that's me. |

"I'm confused, why do these things make us Bitches?
- Amy. x"
They don't. Strong minded doesn't make a woman a bitch, just strong minded.
I would more equate the 'bitch' definition as equal to how the term 'bastard' equates to men - someone who treats the opposite sex as subordinate, who is self centred, dismissive and unfaithful. |

I don't think that someone is a bitch just because they put themselves first in life. |

I wonder if the definition of a bitch has changed since the book was written, since that description isn't quite how I'd use the term myself either.
I like strong, independent women, who know what they want/like, are happy to speak their mind freely and are prepared to stand up for themselves.
All of these are positive traits imo, whereas a bitch is more negative: mean, selfish, demeaning, two-faced etc.

But that isn't being a bitch necessarily... |

"Doesn't sound like a bitch to me. More like a woman who is happily independent and knows her own mind. A bitch in my mind is something very different."
I agree, I love a confident, self assertive woman who knows what she wants. That is not my definition of a bitch. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
The full title of the book is Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dreamgirl.
If being self-assured is being a bitch and that makes you a dreamgirl I wonder what is the question we are trying to answer?

The book is now in the charity shop ! I went through a phase of reading a few books of a similar vein. Then decided I'm just me -whatever that is. |

Sorry GT, wasn't referring to your choice. I'm as you describe thought it's never been a choice - just natural. |

I too have this book!
It taught me a few things.
Although I like to think I am who I am from life experiences and myself wanting to be the person I am today. |
