Logically they are both correct and I have a very strong suspicion you know they are.
The second example would be the better to use as it doesn't confuse with repetition.
To be pedantic you haven't used a double negative you have just used not in the same sentence twice. |

Both are syntactically correct.
The second implies an act of will to avoid pregnancy. First is not a statement of volition.
