Can see both sides of the coin... love family life even with mess and tidying up. Love having the house full of people, but then I alwyas have done. Not a particualr fussy or obsessively tidy person helps me.  |

Families, and that is just my experience, actually both our experience tbh - will alwyas be there for you - might have rows etc but bottom line is they are there for you. Maybe we are just lucky? |

Thats a shame when that happens but it does - i not spoken to my brother for many years now - maily due to his other half - but his attitude stinks so it wasnt a good start to begin with!!!
The good side is - just cos ya related to em, DOESNT mean ya HAVE to talk to them.
And our world is big enough to be able to ignore the prats that are in it and concentrate on the ones who matter!!
I have had better friends than he will EVER be - and they are for life! |

Anybody read the Skinner/Cleese book "Families and how to survive them? It was written quite a few years ago but is really quite funny, even today - explains a bit about life scripts we all have, and values etc. |

My house has been spotless if a little sterile since my daughter went to uni and my other daughter spends more time at her boyfriends.
She's home for her birthday today and her sisters been home too. My house looks lived in, crumbs on the worktops, knives in the sink, cushions all squashed, I've been cooking up a storm, she'll have food for weeks, she's been talking me to death. She'll be leaving to go to her dad's so he'll take her to St Pancras: God I'm missing her already! |

I have two sisters I've not spoken to since my dad died in January last year. They both sent me a text on my 50th last month, just wound me up even more. |

I do love the excitement of "my secret life" but it has to be said I think Ill miss the boys when they are not at home. My eldest is 21 and at his girlfriends this weekend, its not been the same. Im used to loud music being played, the sound of gunfire and war etc when hes playing Call of Duty online and choking on his aftershave when he comes out of the bathroom. the little one is typically geeky at the moment. Hair too long, skateboarding jeans and tshirts on and constantly sitting in front of a pc playing games, oh he does move 2 inches to his gaming system to have a play on that, plates of food are up in his room and to be honest im not sure id recognise him if he came downstairs. |

Absolutely - I really love all my family coming to stay, even the ones I do not always see eye to eye with. I could not bear it if somebody in my family were not talking to each other. Not saying you have to be in each other's pockets but maintain contact, definitely yes |
