Was talking to a guy that disappeared off here but has text over the weekend to say why - he's in the Navy and it's all confidential but sometimes he has to disappear and can't communicate, security being monitored he says.
We have seen pics - thought it was him, but since asking for new ones he doesn't have any and won't take any, am now wondering if he is actually really who he says he is.
Has anyone chatted to a Navy person and had this happen or are we being mugs?

At the moment he's chatting to me on his ipad as can't use his phone on the boat, but he can't send pics on it cos of security - I'm starting to think bogus too. |

Yeah makes absolutely no logical sense. If he is sending you any form of data from the ship I.e. text then he would be compromising security, a photo makes no difference.. |

My husband was in the navy.
Your texts are private just the same as any other job. I don't know what they would want to monitor them for  he's probably married or just making up a story to sound interesting x |

Yep hes 100% hiding something else, neither the army, navy or raf etc are that tight on security that they impose on your private lives, hence why there are other soldiers on here that dont hide that they are soldiers. |

Call his bluff - and how he can communicate on his iPad but not his phone, for security reasons is a bit contradictory really.
If he can use his iPad, say you will face time him, nothing sordid, just a normal chat, so whoever is 'monitoring' won't mind |

iPad and phone is different on a ship...!
If there is no phone signal he won't be able to use his phone. End of.
Also, if he is using ships internet access, this quite often has limitations to data allowance, and won't allow him to send or receive pics/videos etc.
I know this for a fact as my ex husband worked in the maritime industry, and this was always the case on every ship he worked on. Sometimes he would get phone signal of passing near land, more often than not, he wouldn't.
The internet thing drove me insane.

He probably won't be able to FaceTime if he's using ships Internet. It gets monitored, and each person will have a log in specific to them. And again, he will have a data allowance or he will get a bollocking. |

If he's in a submarine, particularly one of the tridents it could explain things.....
I always believe in giving people the benefit of doubt until you can prove your suspicions one way or another....
Maybe that's why I get shit on so often, but I still stand by that and have some fantastic friends for sticking in there!! |

I can't speak for your situation but I'm frequently out of contact as I'm not permitted to take my phone onto my clients premises.
If we have a lock down I could be on site until the lock down is over and we are allowed to leave site. This could be a couple of hours or several days. The longest we've been down so far was 4 days.
If he Genuinly does what he's told you he does, it's possible that communications could be "disjointed". |

Apparently he can face time! So we will see if he is free. But yes that bit rang alarm bells for me. |
