Was witness to quite a bad rta today, woman turning right at traffic lights steering with one hand lost control and instead of braking she hit the gas resulting in her going through a garden wall, my first thought was serves you right you stupid bitch then I saw the 2 kids in the back, neither of them was strapped in and what looked to be the eldest, possibly about 4 yrs old, had face and head injuries. I've never wanted to slap someone as hard as I wanted to slap her, when will these selfish people ever learn ..... |

The police have the right to check mobile phones for activity during an incident not sure they would with two children involved I'm sure the mother was upset enough and has learnt her lesson. I'm surprised people don't realise how momentum works for those that don't strap there kids in try putting a large bottle of pop on the center seat in the back, drive at 10mph and drop the anchors hard. Your child will create the same damage and mess. |

If they view the cctv and see she was on the phone it won't matter if children were in the car. She committed an offence and should be charged. |

Absolutely
It's not like it's only just become illegal to use a phone behind the wheel.
It's been the law since late 2003.
I nearly had a van driver pull out into the side of me the other day because he was too focused on his phone conversation. |

I've never heard of anyone round here being done for it, and if I said I saw a 100 people a day on their phones/texting it wouldn't be far out !! |

Being a non driver and spending a bit of time walking or waiting for buses, seeing people on mobiles while driving is something i notice quite a lot....and to be honest.... It really winds me up!!!!
There are so many inconsiderate drivers on the roads and the police are never about at the right time. People just dont give a shit.
I wonder if they would give more of a shit if its there extended family member or child that may get hit by someone on there phone one day!!! |

4 in Stafford charged and 22,000 in London. It seems there is a bit of a difference. |

I taught my kids to wait near the kerb and not cross the road by themselves by the time they were 3, they loved running off so i let them have that freedom after i taught them sdome rules. I once had a right go at someone when my 3 kids were waiting and the kerb and a driver wanted to park on the pavement so honked their horn at them to move, 2 were pre-school age, they would have had to go on the road to get out their cars way. How some dumbfucks get a license i don't even know.
Also nearly been run over by a woman on her phone driving over a zebra crossing when i was on it. |

This is horrible to read and horrible for you to have witnessed too. I hope the children are going to be ok and hope you are going to be too. Im a lollipop lady and first day back to work today. This woman driving towards me as im still in the road, using her mobile phone and not paying attention. Luckily, she was going slow as she was indicating to turn right, but im damn sure she never saw me. I called out to her to get off her phone, she never batted a eyelid carried on her maneouver, still on her phone. If I see her tomorrow, im taking her numberplate and reporting her. There were no kids in the road but five minutes earlier, she could have hit me or the kids. |
