Love so many from the 80's, but one tune we brought out of semi-retirement at a wedding a few weeks ago (me and my mate DJing) was tge Communards Don't leave me this way and we were saying just how good a tune it still is, especially compared to much of todays music. It just has a great arrangement and a great mix and just works |

"Party fears two. The associates "
Look up You Tube.... Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 singing Party Fears Two.
We saw him live doing it as a tribute to Billy MacKenzie. It brought the whole crowd to silence.

"Tears for fears - shout
"
Everbody Wants to Rule the World. That's was my 80's club anthem, it always played as soon as I walked in a club, and when I revisited my 80's winebar haunt over Easter, blow me down it came on again!!

Ooh love Toto, I think of them as more late 70's with Hold The Line, and the wonderfully funky Gorgy Porgy!! Ah those were the days... |

"Up The Junction - Squeeze.
Sheer poetry. They dont write songs like that anymore. The youth of today.... blah, blah."
The didn't write songs like that in the 80s either....it was released in 1979.
I know, I'm being pedantic - it's a great song.
I'm not a huge 80s fan, but love:
The Kane Gang - Closest Thing to Heaven
The Lotus Eaters - First Picture of You
Orange Juice - Rip It Up
New Order - True Faith
the Stone Roses - Made of Stone/Fools Gold |

The lotus eaters?
Never heard of them but Robert e Howard regularly refered to 'lotus eaters' in his Conan stories...they're painted as drug users...
Even in the film Conan the barbarian (the first one, not the Jason mamoa crap) Conan and suboti buy some off the market seller that advised them on the towers of set....suboti even advises Conan 'chew slowly....it's good stuff'
Wonder if the band name a reference to Robert e Howard's writings?
