We've been around the forums now long enough to have seen many member names come and go. Some of those regular posters that have left gave a valuable contribution and insight into many subjects.
Just lately though we have seen the emergence of a new trend and wonder if it is working.
Some of those new names, no we won't mention them! Post and post and post, new topic after new topic. While it may keep the forums ticking over, does anyone else believe like we do, that the reason for it is not to add topics for discussion.
But rather to get their names up there and noticed in the hope that it will generate contacts for them?

Well people are told to become known, go into chat.... Post in the forums.... And go to socials..
So I don't think that.
Sometimes you are dammed if you do, dammed if you don't at times.

Agree with View, you see lots of newbies asking for advice on meets, particularly new guys and a common bit of advice is post in forums, go to chatrooms and socials so this could be a reason. I do agree though that sometimes it looks a bit like 'look at me' but each to their own, doesn't bother me how many posts someone makes. |

I think you should name names! Expose these thread makers! How dare they!
I would make more threads if I could but I can never think of anything. I'm a reactive poster not a proactive poster. But even if I was prolific in thread creation I would never consider it a way to get me a fuck LOL.
As scumqueen says, forums and chat rooms are transient things and people take breaks. I have worked in this area and studies suggest the average life span is no more than 18 months for a forum or a chat user before they move on. Coincidentally the same time span a human can maintain infatuation with a partner. |

It's nice to have a varied mix of posters, it keeps the boards alive.
That said, I do understand where the OP is coming from. Some regular posters do swamp the forums with "crap" attention seeking threads. If the subject matter doesn't interest me or I know the poster is attention seeking, I jog on by!

I'm responsible for some of the crap posted here, and I'll continue to do it.
It's never won us any meets though. I've had pm's condemning me for some of my "sick" quips, "supportive" pm's for some of my serious contributions, and pm's where fellow posters have laughed along with my childish humour.
When we go to socials people often comment that they have chuckled at my ramblings, and ahhh thats nice |

I don't mind lots of threads it makes it interesting
If I think they're crap I don't respond,Ive never seen it as a way to make contacts on here, less than 0.05% of the site users use the forums I can think of easier ways to meet people than creating post after post if I wanted some attention
I just see them as a discussion board and thats all, sometimes im howling with laughter and sometimes im grinding my teeth at them |

i have been reading the forums since i joined this site but very rarely reply here
its sometimes like a school playground here. i have seen people being patronised and had the piss taken out of them for asking a 'silly' question??
i do enjoy these forums though and think more peeps should post here.

i think its very ominous how some of the people who post regular suddenly fall of the radar
there have been so many that it seems im not the only one to have there suspitions aroused
its geting worse than argentina and the "dissapeared"
perhaps we should get a big board and "post it" there nanes on it
LOST IN THE FORUMS ,emblasened on the top
or mayby we could do like in the USA have there profile avatar printed on milk cartons with the word "missing" |

Im a bit of a forum junkie, I like to read other peoples _iews etc, I think its fun. I dont post on the forums to get myself known or get myself more meets. Like many couples, I dont really need extra help, as all the other ladies experience, we get a lot of messages. My partner never comes on the forums, hes not keen on them, hes the one that looks at profiles and says hi to folks that he thinks are on our wavelength. I come on the forums because im interested in swinging and I like to read the different _iewpoints and other peoples experiences |

You obviously miss the point. Take a look at the first page, or the second or the third. See how many members names crop up time and time again,
Not just once or twice on a page but 6,7 or more times. Iv'e seen pages in the past where the first 12 posts have all been started by the same person.
That to me is just a way of saying 'please notice me'
And you _iew of 'if you don't like the forums, move on' Is probably why those members who have left have done so. Leaving the place to become stale and mundane. |

It's a possibility and one that lies alongside a thousand other possible reasons.
Who cares ?
Does it matter ?
Not one bit.
If you want to know intentions and results ask the person/people you are talking about. How would the rest of us know if it's working for them? ~We don't even know them.
Shit ! Am I one of them ? Now that would make me laugh like a drain. |

if you would take the time to read, what i actually wrote.it would probably help.IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SUBJECT.MOVE ON.you really shouldnt change other peoples words,to suit you'r own purpose. |

It very well may be a way of drawing attention to themselves, but so what, good on them, we all use these forums for different reasons, there shouldnt be a limit to how many posts a person should do, its basically up to them. Noone is stopping anyone else from posting 20 subjects in one go on here |

Is there any other reason to post on what are likely to be anonymous forums? After all, with however many thousand members(whoops, people, as half don't have members) it might take a while to get noticed otherwise.
After all, how often does OP hunt the profiles for potential contacts?
(I only asked the question because my posts usually kill threads, lol) |

I think that it is just that some people maybe aren't so comfortable with chat, but like the forums.
I tend to read more than I post on here..
Be thankful we are not having post count wars... you should see the amount of silly posts people make on some car forums lol :D
