This is a point I wanted to highlight, You often read on here people mentioning fwbs, but for the most part, it always seems to me like this is simply a term used simply to describe someone you meet regularly for sex without a relationship.

How many people actually consider the 'friend' part of this arrangement? Do you get together with this person for other, more traditional friendly activities like drinks, chat, and cinema visits etc that don't end in sex at the end of the evening? Supposing that one of you found themselves in a more traditional relationship with someone else, would you continue to maintain the friend part with this person, in the absence of having sex with them anymore?

Right last year I dated that army guy who when he put a stop to it said we were really only fuck buddies. My description of a fuck buddy didn't include the things that we did, go for meals together, shopping, cinema, meeting his mother, brother, friends, taking me to a wedding of someone from his regiment. Messaging me everyday whilst he was in the uk on a training course and staying with me Friday to Sunday when he came home. Sod, upset me a lot, looking back I can sort of see his point when he said he can't do anything serious because apart from when he came back briefly for 11 days over Xmas he's been out the country again since 29th of December.

I've always assumed there was a distinction between a fuck buddy and a FWB.

A 'true' FWB would be exactly that, a friend (maybe longstanding?) who, possibly if both without regular partners, will sleep with you for no attachment no strings sex to satisfy your basic carnal urges as an aside from your normal day to day friendship.

Whereas a fuck buddy would be someone you seek out more specifically for no strings sex rather than the other elements of a true friendship as you describe.

Maybe I'm wrong though? Never had a FB or FWB so perhaps my assumptions are wrong??

A FB is someone you just fuck.

A FWB is someone you do other things with.

That's how I would want it anyhow.

I figure that the benefits part includes sex, I have many friends that I can take to the pub and beat at darts or pool.

Not been in a situation whereby I am no longer friends with someone after having had carnal knowledge with them.

The friends bit matters to me for the most.

The greater portion of people I've met from here have become friends.....

My first meet from fab remains a friend after over two years now....we never play any more but are very close when we see each other

I went to visit a friend in Warrington on Monday, just went for brews and a laugh, she started as a 'meet' (i really don't like that term) from here and we've become friends more than anything.

There's a lady i've known well over a year, we go get coffee sometimes, shoot the breeze...still never got to the 'benefits' part but I wouldn't swap her for the world....

I got an existing friend onto here when she broke up with her fella....since slept with her but our friendship came first and remains first...

Folk I've met off the forums, I still love the banter with them, and plan to meet again.....

And so the list goes on.....

Nope, the friends bit definately trumps the benefits bit for me......

I could have had so many more meets but for the fact they were 'cold'

Minimal conversation, no real friendly vibe....I'd rather wank than just limit it to sex....I'm greedy that way.

From personal experience, as above. A friend with benefits could be a potential romantic relationship irrespective to what agreed boundaries are.....

An FB is precisely that - no relationship ties - simply booty call!

I met a FWB through Fab.

We had a couple of social meets before doing anything more. And after that we'd still often meet in a pub for drinks or even a meal and wouldn't always play.

We'd chat and flirt and there was always a snog at the end of the night.

Never did anything more than that as I'm married. Husband was happy with the arrangement but drew the line at a cinema trip, he said that was too much like dating.

I considered him a friend, with benefits.

I've always said on here that I'm looking for fwbs not fbs. So many people don't realise the difference. Or maybe they don't have any friends to begin with to know what a friendship entails?

We're FWBs, and we sometimes spend time together without having sex.

When I met my ex and stopped sleeping with Mr, we still spoke and spent time together, just not as much.

I've been seeing Mr again since June, and it is perhaps a little more like dating this time

I've actually been able to differentiate the two in more details thanks to you guys. I met this lady not quite a month ago and since then we've met up again, chat on whatsapp like everyday and even facetime each other and talk for long times mostly about how our days been, who said what, who did what lol and what we have planned for the next day. We are now friends on Facebook and snap chat but a bit funny whenever it clicks to me that we actually met on fab lol. Glad I met her

My best mate, who I have known since I was a kid, got me onto here in the first place. For a while it suited us both to have additional benefits but we are now platonic best mates again. We just flip a coin when we stay over each other's places as to which one of us gets the sofa.

Yep done lots of things with my fwb, including cinema, arcades, bike rides, dinners and meals, days out shopping, lego land, sea life centre loads of nights in with take aways or home cooked food and films.

It's nice cause you're intimate with each other the friendship side comes much more naturally.

Equally though I've got fuck buddies and that's literally we only see each other when we're both horny and it's just a booty call basically.

Maybe it seems like a case of 'having your cake and eating it'.

Wanting a FWB who you don't yet know or haven't yet met might smack of wanting all the benefits of a girlfriend (social and sexual) without actually wanting to put in any commitment.

I'd imagine (although purely speculation on my part) most people would either want a FB if they want no strings sex, or if they're prepared to invest significant time in forming a friendship / bond with someone else then they might not want to just limit that to a FWB relationship when they could have invested that time and effort in finding a "proper" boyfriend / girlfriend instead?

I would imagine that most FWBs have the 'friendship' established for sometime first, then the sex comes later. It sounds like you want both right from the off which is probably why it's hard to find. Good luck though, I hope you find what you're looking for

We thought we had made dome FWB. Turns out that the couple in question had dome serious communication issues between themselves and whilst the Mr. was telling us they wanted more than just sex meets and was arranging future pub nights, dinners out and other 'vanilla' activities, the Mrs. wanted non of it and it got a little uncomfortable.

Since then we have decided not to mix our lifestyle choice with our real life because of the minefield of issues it can generate.

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

We have friends with benefits. People we met through this site who are now friends in the real world too. We go shopping, cinema, have meals, met each other's families and in one case we are even going to their wedding. We would consider them friends even if we didn't meet them occasionally for sex so it's the best of both worlds

My experience is the opposite, I've met people via here that I've had regular fun with. Some of these more of a friendship evolves and you start doing more than just sex

My closest friends are former playmates. No longer sex involved as their relationship status has changed, but the friendship that has formed has developed

Everyone I meet though is someone I think has the potential to meet regularly, as I prefer this.

I think if your approach is social first, sex secondary, you have a tendency to meet others who are like minded and real friendships are formed

I had a fwb for a few years met him on a different site. We would go to the cinema. I would stay over his house when he had his kids we would just go out an have a good time. So everything apart from the relationship itself x

"This is a point I wanted to highlight, You often read on here people mentioning fwbs, but for the most part, it always seems to me like this is simply a term used simply to describe someone you meet regularly for sex without a relationship.

Yep done lots of things with my fwb, including cinema, arcades, bike rides, dinners and meals, days out shopping, lego land, sea life centre loads of nights in with take aways or home cooked food and films.

I have 1 friend with benefits. Im not meeting sexually at the moment but we still get together socially for a bite to eat, a giggle and a catch up. The relationship has been like this for about 5 years. He even had a monogamous relationship in between for a year and half and we still met as friends, when they seperated we picked the benefits part back up again.

Do are feelings go.beyond friendship and fun so the lines get blurry. Not at all it works for us as it is

IMO relationships and sexual partners come and go - friends (unless they do something to fuck it up with me) are forever, as I am very loyal as a friend....

"Right last year I dated that army guy who when he put a stop to it said we were really only fuck buddies. "

That sounds like a relationship to me.

My fuck buddies have a tendency to become friends over time, one of whom I'll pop round & enjoy a coffee with, no sex just coffee & gossip, if I finish work early he's always the one who offers me a chance to meet for a drink, watch a band at a pub, coffee or just a lift home, am hoping to finish work early enough tomorrow to have a drink & meet his lady love x

I don't tend to go for all the "fwb" stuff.

I have had what you could call that on here.

I used to meet a cuckold couple for like 5 months, they have left the site and I still talk to them now almost weekly.

What I will say is there are those who I've met more than once and those that I'd like to meet again.

I'm actually not looking for new friends and I do use the word "friend" because I like them and their company.

But I'm not into the whole "FWB" in the sense of I'm not chained to someone and I can still do my own thing.

Someone who talks sense. I really can't do labelling. Doesn't describe the relationship with each other well.

I met a FB on here with my last profile, turned into fwb which from my stand point ended up blurring the lines cause I really ended liking out with him and the sex! Confused my little black heart so much.

We are now just friends and have taken the sex out of the equation and I really value his friendship, he's seen me through some pretty shitty points

It really depends on how much we have in common besides swinging.

Some people we have just clicked with on all levels so it's happened naturally over time that we ended up meeting them for meals, concerts etc. Others as much as we like their company and have met a few times it's mainly about the sex.

Fwb is way too much like dating for me. Tried it. Didn't like it. Its not what I'm here for. Regular partners in crime are great fun and it gives us time to build up the rapport we all need. Fb will do me just lovely.
