"And yes I agree, why is not Cameroon there, is he feeling the heat? "
If all the reports are to be believed he is claiming he has made these debates possible. I'm not sure how his not taking part makes it possible but then I'm not PM or a PM wannabe.

Got it on in the background while I'm doing other stuff, but I have to say 'Boom', Nicola Sturgeon just gave Ed Milliband one hell of a bitch slap.
Now I don't agree with her politics, but have to say, well done lady! |

The plan supposedly was to have everyone ganging up on Ed, making him look weak, and splitting the left-vote.
Instead he'll come out of it as the sensible, balanced one from a bunch of amateurs and fantasists. I'd say he's looking the most prime-ministerial I've ever seen him.
Just wish he'd stop looking directly at me

Anyone else noticed that Nicola Sturgeon is only talking about Scotland. OK, so she's the first minister and therefore has a vested interest, but her place in the debate, and the role her party could play after May 7th is not simply restricted to Scotland, so perhaps she should try and broaden her appeal.
From what i've seen from her so far this evening, it's very clear that she is solely focussed on Scotland and will ONLY work with Milliband for the interests of Scotland.
As a result, I think she's doing a brilliant job for the Tories, as she's making Milliband look very weak. |

Maybe, but I'm sure I saw her wink at me. She said what sounded like 'housing benefit' but I heard it as 'I want to shag steve' so she gets my vote. |

It's a shame for the rest of the UK that Nicola only represents Scotland..
Ed milliband is definitely cool calm and collected, but the others definitely have more charisma! |

It's like the other leftys on stage are telling miliband he is missing the bus on his policies, his chance to be a good classic labour PM and is too focussed on being a milder version of the Tories.
I'm not an snp voter but everytime the Green Party and the snp speak I just wish it was Labour saying these instead or watered down Tory policies. |

Dear, dear, dear Mr Milliband - EPIC FAIL!!!!
Just dismissing the notion that there might be a European army as your answer to real concerns put to you by Nigel Farage on the matter of denying the people of this country a say.
What I got from Ed's response was that under no circumstances will he give us a referendum on Europe. EVER!!!! |

The thing that Ed Milliband fails to understand is that he and the PM have had that opportunity almost every Wednesday for the last five years - it's called Prime Ministers Question Time - and, from what I've seen whenever I've watched, Cameron walks all over Milliband.
Interesting that all the small parties have essentially said tonight, don't vote Labour, Ed isn't strong enough.
Well, in that case, let's vote for the other guy. The man currently in charge and who has got unemployment down to a record low etc etc.
Criticism for David Cameron not taking part? He didn't need to did he. Look at the brilliant job all the small parties did of ripping Milliband to shreds. |

I wasn't criticising that he didn't take part in the debate, I was being critical of the fact that the Tories don't take part in the debate yet talk it up/down in the spin room afterwards. They've got their cake and ate it. |

I thought it demonstrated a considerable amount of anger against the current govt. and a govt. without the balls to argue their case.
And that those parties would support Labour was interesting. I like that they would put pressure on for Labour to move more to the left - that's what's made me reluctant to vote labour! |

That depends on whether you consider an informal confidence and supply to be an actual coalition. |

I wonder how many times they had the conversation about how to break the new legal requirement they introduced on a five year parliament?
I agree, though, they held well until they had to make the "it's not me it's you" divorce sounds.

It did go the distance surprisingly, but as a former lib dem voter it was sad to see them allow themselves to be shafted by the Tories. |

DC vetoed it. Pointed out this was an opposition-party debate, whereas Libdems are in Government, not opposition.
(According to Grauniad and Torygraph)
Personally I suspect he hoped without either, it wouldn't go ahead... |

I thought the same but I was told that when the Tories decided not to show the decision was made to not invite the Lib Dems. "
I understood that too but I wonder why the Lib Dems didn't defend their right to debate too.
Although, as their current message is that that they are the ideal coalition partner for whichever party comes close to forming a government maybe there isn't anything to debate.
Or, they have already done the deal to remarry the Tories in May.

They def should have been there in my opinion.
One of the questions was along the lines of "what would you offer a coalition?" - the Lib Dems def have something to offer on that topic whether people like it or not. |

I take a good deal of interest in politics in general and regularly watch BBC Parliament, so this debate was unlikely to make me change my mind on who I will be casting my vote for on May 7th, but I have to say, that if I was undecided, after this evenings performance I can honestly say I would not vote for any of those who took part - or at least their respective local party candidates. |

The big clue is in the name Scottish National Party and yes she should be focused on Scotland.
As for saying she is doing a good job for the Tories no no Ed Miliband doing a good job for the Tories Nicola has said over and over that SNP and Labour can lock out David Cameron. |

The only thing I don't quite understand is why was Nicola there?
Surely she is the SNP leader for the Scottish Parliament.
Isn't Alex Salmond the planned SNP leader for the Westminster Parliament?
(Though I can see why they prefer her up front) |

I think it must be pressure she's feeling after the media crucified her a few weeks ago. I do like her though but notice she falls back on to climate change with ease, as a topic. |

Same. I'm happy with the idea of Labour with some pressure from a more left/liberal leaning party so my first choice now would prob be Green. But as that's likely a wasted vote here it'll be Labour.
I won't vote LibDem ever again until Clegg fucks off. I wonder if they tactically kept away tonight to avoid the coalition question. If that happens I hope Milliband makes it a condition that Clegg steps down.
