We all have tattoos and to us each tattoo means something important - birth, kids, family etc. We all mark our skins as it beautiful (and we are creatures of beauty)
I've found in my research for my growth as a Master that the butterfly (butterfly winged goddess) is the symbol for Psyche (goddess of the mind) who was the wife of Cupid (God of love) and their daughter was Hedone (pleasure) ... So it started my mind wondering for two reasons - Are women with butterfly tattoos subconsciously more sexually "free" and also what marks on your skin (if any) would you say represents your entirety as a person
P.S - in the film The Duke of Burgundy - the Dominant makes the submissive walk in a room blind folded while thousands of butterflies flap and flutter around her. |

I have a butterfly tattoo on the right side of my chest. I just picked it because I liked it and it's different from most butterfly tattoos you see....was no particular meaning behind it though |

I don't think a butterfly tattoo defines whether your sexually free.
You are or you aren't because you are that way inclined or not. Or want to be sexually free or not sexually free. |

It was an observation based on what I researched. Psychologist would state our skin markings are based/chosen by our subconscious.
I know it doesn't define "us" per sé but my crux question was or should be - why choose a particular tattoo. What does it mean to you.
The butterfly statement was due to my studies and research. I wanted to gain a wider understanding of sex and the mind. We all state this on our profiles and lives about "seducing" the mind but no one ever researched its origins fully |

I have two butterflies on my stomach, with cobweb wings, that i did myself (they aren't that great but i like them and didn't pay anyone for them). Prefer moths myself and going to have them tattooed on the back of my leg later this year.
My living room is decorated in butterflies and so is my hall. Butterflies are just really pretty and calming and nice to look at, and yeah they do give off an element of freedom when you see them fly around outside.
Monarch butterflies are the one to do with mind control. MK ultra.
None of my tattoos represent me, i'm not my tattoos. They're just pictures or things i like and wanted them with me on my skin and i like the way i look with them. |

OP, sorry to be critical but what research have you done? And to be brutal, not everyone has tattoos or are creatures of beauty. I do not have tattoos and I am not a creature of beauty. Some people just like butterflies. |

An interesting thought. I think a lot of choices we make in life are subconscious. I have a dragon tattoo. The one and only and I have no conscious reason for choosing it. Your thread has inspired me to look up what a dragon symbolises. ...strength, power, passion, spiritualism being some of them. I can see these characteristics in myself to a certain extent.
Ps. I think of butterflies as such delicate creatures so I'm quite glad I don't have a butterfly tattoo as I'm far from delicate |

Don't apologise - it's a discussion
I've learnt to question a lot of things I encounter daily. I started to wonder "why people do what they do" and that transitioned into sex/desires/fantasies etc. I wanted to know why a person likes to be spanked or why a person prefers the colour blue when in power play.
The butterfly statement isn't written in stone. As I said it was just an observation and I wanted to see if others agreed or not and if so why. If sex is a journey of discovery then we need to know why we are on the road |

Is sex a journey of discovery? We just happen to enjoy it and have no desire to question why or to view it as a journey. |

Well then there you go
I've just understood more about you and that's what the post was originally about. Sex has always been a part of our identity. From art to religion to law so I view it as a journey yes.
The original posts was about tattoos and why we have them and there meaning to us (individual)
The butterfly statement was just a "btw comment" |

Mine are mostly floral. The choice of flowers has some symbology and I chose them carefully for my own personal reasons. To anyone looking at then though, they're just pretty (well I think so) tattoos. Only one person other than me knows the reasoning behind my choices. |
