In tribute to Viv Nicholson who died today aged 79. She won £152,000 (about £3.5m in today's terms) on the football pools in 1961, and told the media she would "spend, spend, spend. 3 years later, she had indeed spent it all.

Yes and no.
Most of it would be "spent" as I will have given half to my sister and her family and then half of what I have left to various charities. The remainder would then be used to treat people to a holiday in Hawaii, buy a house in Lyme Regis and I would keep about £100,000 to live on should I ever need to stop working.

I think she was a bit crazy and ended up with nothing. I would plan enjoy what I had but invest in a home so the kids were comfortable. Just the one car a little jewelry and live on interest. Im not a wasteful person so we would be comfortable not extravagant. |
