well I'd self medicate first plenty of things out there. Then if they didn't work I'd go.

this, quake wont give you anything if you havnt tried remedies available over the counter 1st. fruit is also a good idea. prunes.  |

Usually an hour before it drops off.
That being said, it would be great to actually see my GP. The receptionists are like guard dogs. If they don't think you should see a doctor there's no way you're getting an appointment unless you're under 16 or over 80! |

There is a great self remedy pessary you can get. It comes with a big pink applicator that can be used in all manner of positions and locations. It even manages to apply itself so you can just lie back and let it medicate.
I don't think you can get it at boots but I'm sure there are plenty of people here that can offer it. I think it's called 'C Men' |

I called my GP today to ask if my ultrasound results were in. I may have a gall bladder problem. I called at 4 as it was quiet, and I was on my lunch only to be told 'we give out test results between 1 and 3'. I answered well I'm at work between 8.30 and 7 and this is the only time I had free. She asked if I got a lunch break. My response was yes - I'm calling you because I'm on lunch. I requested appt for Monday between 2-4 only to be told I need to call Monday at 8am.
I think a new GP is required. |

Day 12, have tried flax oil olive oil big box of bran flakes big bunch of bananas punnet of strawberries (not Kentish ones unfortunately as we all know the best strawberries come from Kent) 4 sennokots yesterday another 4 today (all they've done is give me stomach cramps) all this is on top of a roast lamb dinner at Easter 2 chippy dinners and 3 ham salads this week...I'm nervously worried I'm tackling this from the wrong end (but there's no chance I'm swapping to hoop end). |

At this point you may wish to try something stronger!
Dulcolax, Citra Fleet although I'm not sure you can get that over the counter.
Movicol is quite gentle but you also need to drink a lot of water, litres!

12 days?? damn I would deffo get into a doc.. all the 'down the throat' remedies will be doing, is making things interesting before the blockage!!

Manual evacuation, usually performed by a big burly male nurse  . You need to visit your Dr for a prescription, ask for Picolax then go to the local fet shop for man size nappies. . |

Ziggy, are you drinking enough water?
I can't imagine going 20 hours without, erm, going. Just one banana will get things moving for me but I drink a lot of water.
You need to see the doctor and get something more powerful than you have been using and, I'm sorry to say, the suppository option is looking more likely.

I've only ever been a twice a week guy and my guts are pretty cast iron, it's the thought of birthing a cannon ball that's troubling me. My hoop has always been immaculate so the up the bum remedy can wait a teeny bit longer (yes I'm bloody squeamish about such things!!).
Does coffee count as water?, I can get through half a dozen mugs of instant at work and a pot of espresso during the day |

Simple, buy and quickly eat 6oz+ (150gm or so) of sugar free sweets with artificial sweeteners such as Sorbitol in them and you'll have no need of a Dr.
Plumber maybe to retrieve yer innards. |

It wont be a cannonball. It will be rabbit droppings. Stick a rubber glove on, get lubed up and have a rummage with your finger. That can either break things up, or get your system moving a little.
Are you sure you haven't got something stuck up there and are just to embarrassed to admit it? |

12 days is dangerous. Hate to say this but you may need 'manual decompaction'.
You need to see a doctor. If you develop sepsis you can be dead within 24 hours. |

Mine is similar to this. I work between 830 and 145, with a little gap between jobs, when gp phone is usually busy and half hour for lunch, which doesnt fit in with gp calling times for appointments. If I want a same day appointment I have to phone at 1pm,when im working. So invariably all the appointments that suit workers, are gone |

It took me 3 months to go see a doctor about a lump I found on my testicle, in the 3 months things got worse.
Yes it was cancer, yes I am clear.
Why do we leave things so long? |

OP, look up 'Fecal Impaction' on Web.
Read possible complications and side effects. (Hint - ulceration of the rectal tissue;
Tissue death (necrosis) or rectal tissue injury)
GO TO DOCTOR!

Have you checked whether your GP has an online system? More are getting this - they are all supposed to have an online system from this month. Some are introducing Skype appointments too.

Hubby once fell and Punctured a Lung..
But he never knew at the time and it Showed up on Scans weeks later..
Even the docs were baffled as to why it didn't kill him and Why it had taken him 3 weeks for it to Actually hurt enough to go to a Hospital.. |

Blockages can cause major problems. Dont be a typical male and think it will go away.need good dose laxative. Cranberry juice or prunes. Get your arse to docs. A ruptured bowel can kill you ! |

Seriously op all jokes aside, either you are fibbing or have now been taken to hospital, 12 days is very dangerous territory, thats get yourself into a+e if you havent seen a doctor as you will be crippled with stomach pains time, and only going twice a week is neither normal or ok, you should be seeing a doctor about that anyday. |

I'd give it a while before going in there, I mean I've opened the window wide and left the fan on but still...
Blimey don't know how you're supposed to keep clenched for the full twenty, I might gave managed 10 minutes tops, still I now know whatever else life throws at me I shall never suffer a greater indignity that shuffling to the bathroom with a plastic bottle hanging out my hoop. |
