Tescos are selling tat this far in advance of Christmas.

Since Scientists have predicted the end of the universe in approximately 5 Billion years; when should we expect to start seeing the shelves stocked with the paraphernalia of the Apocalypse?

Only when you buy it.

The topic was the retail industries insistence on bringing events forwards; often ridiculously so... ;p

So people in Oct, Nov and Dec, should not have birthdays

Choice of cards is depleted because of Christmas

Though that was a relevant point made by Provocative and related to the OP

On the contrary; I don't normally send people cards for any occasion; so sending an inappropriate card would be an improvement?

I actually stopped doing Christmas cards a few years ago - as I could not see the point of writing hundreds of cards, partly cos I thought it was against my feelings about the environment, partly cos I could not be bothered to have to drink several bottles of wine in the process to keep me going. Prefer to call people at Christmas and have a chat.

As for birthdays/ get well etc... yes, I like doing those - they are individual and relate to a specific event in that person's life... but hey - each to their own...
