The Grand National is an absolute lottery! Contrary to popular belief, most of the horses in it are not of a very high standard. Some of the races before have much higher class of animals running.
However, I will eventually spend a few mins picking some possibilities out |

By the way, Irish or French bred horses have won this race since 2001
The race has been won by a 9, 10 or 11 year old horse since 2005.
Don't back female horses to win it - there have only been 13 in 175 years!

Not very high standard?
Every horse submitted has to have been placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in a 3 mile or more chase.
That means there will be a few outsiders, but the majority will be very good horses, not many horses can complete the Aintree course.
The horses must be handicapped 120+, be able to run the course and the fences. |

It's a grade 3 handicap, not a grade 1. Still good horses but not the best. |

But still a class 1, there are grade 1 handicaps run at Aintree.
Grade 1 is more prestigious, and will have a small number of top horses, the National cant be classed as a Grade 1 because its the longest and hardest hunt race in the calender, top horses wouldnt be able to run it. The distance, the highest age entrance and the mount of fences
I understand what you mean about the class of horse though
