Hereabouts

I've tried ibuprofen gel, heat packs, painkillers... It hurts like hell... Like a LOT! I don't even know what ive done.

Any suggestions for pain relief? And should I rest it or get it checked out at the walk in clinic? I'm rubbish at knowing when I need medical attention!!

Depends how long it's been hurting for and what you've been doing to cause the pain.

If it's lasting more than a week.......

It's been sore since my tumble down the stairs a few weeks ago.. But nothing bad. It's been excruciating for the past 2-3 days. I'm on crutches so that's probably making it worse :/

Try pain relief for three days, if that doesn't help seek advice from your GP or walk in centre.

Your OP didn't really explain that. If you're on crutches that probably explains why!

Yeah but it doesn't hurt more when I'm using them.. So I'm not sure what the problem is

Go get it sorted out now, you could always phone the NHS helpline if you're struggling to get out the house. The number is 111.

When to use it

You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.

Call 111 if:

you need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency

you think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service

you don't know who to call or you don't have a GP to call

you need health information or reassurance about what to do next

Calls are free from landlines and mobiles.

I also had the same as I torn my rotator cuff 2 months ago. I couldn't even move my arm forward or even raise my arm, it lasted just for 2 weeks, what you do is sit and do forward and back shoulder shrugs 20 times every hour plus I took ibuprofen every 2hrs, it did work and all back to normal.

sorry OP, i know you are in pain but this did make me chuckle. you seem to get everything no one dies of.

If you ahve been suffering for a bit with it then i;d leave the A&E/minor injuries.out of hours dr's and wait to go to your usual surgery tomorrow. They might prescribe some stronger anti-inflamatories for you and maybe some physio to deal with prolonged crutch use as you have been on them for a while if i remember rightly? before your tumble at least.

Go to the quack tomorrow. That is where you will get medical advice that you can usually rely on, this is where you can chat and meet people for nsa a sex .

Hope it stops hurting soon.

You might be putting too much pressure on your shoulders without realising when you're using the crutches? And being too tense?

I would get yourself checked out and get some advice, never feel your being a nuisance.

Feel better soon

Boobs x

Fair enough, thinking about it i just went to my GP when i had constant pain in my hip so yeah wouldn't have called them for that. I don't know anything that helps with pain either, apart from meds. Hope you get it sorted, i hate pain personally.

I have pain in my shoulder all the time I find that two cortisone shots from my Gp helps. I would get an xray first to see if there is any damage.

Yeah it's possible. My knee is so weak so all my weight goes through my arms, and I probably lean more to the right side (the side that hurts) so you could be right!

I'm waiting for pain management for my knee, because I have a very high tolerance for pain medication but not so much for pain! Haha

I'm hoping it's something I can fix at home though with rest or whatever

GPs are a gateway to specialised doctors. Request an appointment with an orthopaedic consultant. An MRI scan will help with any diagnosis.

Southend

Go to an Osteopath. Not a chiropractor. If it's something they can't treat they will refer you to GP or get an MRI. It could be frozen shoulder (had that, nasty), Reduction in the acromial space, needs shaving down. Maybe arthritis.

See a professional.

go for the least severe option... so going to the vet to be put down is definitely the last option

"whats best for shoulder pain? ice or heat?"

Amputation. Failing that alternate unless it's arthritis because ice will make it worse or if it's caused by an inflammation heat will make it worse.

The cause needs to be identified before a remedy can be suggested and internet randommers who have lots of specialist skills not necessarily medical and can't actually see you can't do that.
