I changed jobs seven weeks ago and missed the payrol cut off by one day, so have just received a very nice pay packet. Unfortunately I have been emergency taxed

I know that normally, if you pay too much one month, it will be redunded in your pay next month. But, is it still the same at the end of the financial year?

Or should I expect a nice little cheque from mr inland revenue later in the year?

If you send your P45 to the company they will update your tax code and it will work itself out through the year - there might be a small adjustment at the end of the year.

I will when I get it! The jokers who I used to work for have only just paid me my final couple of weeks salary. Still no sign of a pay slip or p45 from them yet

I had a similar problems a few years back - some companies just don't care do they?

Dont expect, just give them a ring explaining your situation that you have been put on emergency tax code, a phone call can expedite the process, i had to call them twice to get my tax code change and get the refund!!

Just call HMRC and have a chat to them, they are really helpfull and most times you will get any rebate in a few weeks.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Real-time PAYE should mean it I resolved within one or two pay periods but always worth checking with HMRC and your employer.

You will get a tax rebate, if its the end of the financial year, but its up to you to do it, they won't come to you.
