Positive - testing out the local takeaways!
Negative - having to learn which tap is hot and which is cold without looking every time you use a sink.
Anyone else just moved or is moving?

Mountain Ash |
I just moved 2 weeks ago. It's not just the taps you gotta learn, it's the other silly stuff like light switches being in different places, or sockets not being in useful places.
I still haven't Sussed out the central heating/water timer,,nor how to have a hot shower instead of a lukewarm one lol
But it's feeling like home mostly now |

I've recently moved. So much stuff!
Best thing......coming in from the fog (quite literally)
Worst thing....not having worked out how to go for a middle of the night pee without putting on the light....way too many stairs to trip over! |

When I moved I forgot to check in my loft and had to go back two weeks later and ask the new owners if I could get my stuff. Luckily they hadn't ventured up there and it was all still there. |

Hahahaha yes the hot tap SHOULD be on the saw side throughout the house at the very least.
And the light switch should be pressed down to switch it on, not up.
And the washing machine and dishwasher shouldn't require the services of an electrician AND a plumber before they are installed. And we shouldn't have to wait until Tuesday for this! (stupid Easter weekend)
And we shouldn't have realised a couple of days after living here that the sink drains into the cupboard below as the pipe isn't connected...
Yeah. |

Oh stop moaning the lot of you !
Here's a real horror story. our house which we bought last year had numerous faults. We needed a 16% deposit to get a mortgage so a £100,000 would of cost us £20,000 once fees and furniture etc are taken into account.
We had a flooded cellar which had its own eco system down there
A boiler that didn't work
A gas fire just spitting carbon monoxide out
The basin leaked
The toilet leaked
The attic is well....the attic is just fucked
Almost the Entire house re plastered
I'd take in packing a load of boxes any day !!
We're all sorted now though and have had planning permission approved to build a dormer onto the attic |

The cellar? Yeah it was. It was a leaking water pipe that the guy didn't tell us he wasn't actually living there...basically lied to us about the situation.
The leak was stopped as a condition of our offer, but all the water had to go somewhere, so it has just soaked into the floor and took about 3 months with a dehumidifier to get it dry down there.
We took the house on knowing the state of it because we only owe £58,000 on the mortgage, also knew we could get everything sorted just took a lot of work.
But we now have a lovely house in a brilliant location surround by fields and cows
The stress was worth it ! |
