Van Halen isn't a solo act! They're a band. Their original line-up was Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony. Roth left the band in 1985 to launch a solo career. He produced two brilliant albums and several awful ones
In the meantime Sammy Hagar took over on Vocals and every album they produced after that went straight to number one in the US. Hagar left the band in '96 and Gary Cherone briefly took over vocal duties.
Hagar rejoined again in '03 but the tour imploded. Roth rejoined in '09 along with Eddie Van Halen's son -Wolfgang on bass.
The band are still amazing but Roth's live vocals are fucking awful.
They played a sold out show on Hollywood Boulevard this past Monday
Sorry for the history lesson but it's important to be accurate...  |

Phil Collins is one of those singers it's 'cool' to hate, and he is FAR from overrated, the mans produced some of the finest pop ever.
Bob Dylan has gone his entire career sounding like an old man singing wearing a nose peg. His lyrics are supposedly good but as I find him totally unlistenable on a sound basis, sound of course being an essential component of music, I conclude that he's shit. |

I think it's safe to say that nearly every artist/group that has emerged in the last 5-10 years isn't even worthy of being on a list of overrated artists. I may be young but my god the chart music of my generation is god awful  |

I like all live music and have seen several bands and solo artists, non have been over hyped in my opinion. |

I know everyone has different tastes in music, I respect that but some people's opinions here are quite frankly bonkers.
Obviously no-one can argue with Lily Allen or Robbie Williams. And pretty much every solo act from the last couple of years who gets lauded as the next big thing. Total dross and not an ounce of charisma between them.
