Hi
We are thinking of a new car, We currently have a VW touran.
We are thinking of either another touran or a Citroen C4 grand Picasso or a Renault grand scenic.
Does anyone have any of these cars and can offer us some advice please on what they are like.
thank you |

We had a Citroen c4 grand picasso. Brilliant car, the only issue we had with it was the chrome came off the steering wheel, the car was mechanically sound for the 3 years we had it, we loved the car, the only thing is we wished we'd bought the bigger engine we had the 1.6 turbo diesel and wish we'd got the 2 lives one,
And you get lots and lots of gadgets for your money |

"German or Japanese all the way!"
I'd probably say just Japanese. German cars have their fair share of issues but are rarely the subject of a factory recall and you don't get to know about potential faults until they occur (and cost you a fortune). At least the Japanese have the good sense to announce their recalls in the national press.... |

"By an oldish Jag, you'll still be skint but you won't be miserable "
I had a XType Diesel for 3 years. Running costs are very low as they share lots of Ford parts. 40MPG. £135 tax. Insurance around £200 fully comp. The only problem I had with it was a seized brake calliper that cost me £120 inc labour.

I've had a 2004 X-type 2.0DSE for two and a half years, lovely car. Treated myself to a 2001 S-Type 3.0SE for my 50th last month as my day off car. "Grace, Pace and Space" |

Yep, had a couple of Audis and no probs at all. Just got rid of a Honda CR-v after 4 years sterling service. Nissan X-trail now. |

Don't buy a French car, German one or Japanese |

Agree with majority of above stay clear of French. I've had two Renaults and my brother a Citreon, my son is spending through his nose on a Peugeot so stay clear.
I agree with Japanese or any Far Eastern manufacturer they seem to have hit the nail with good reliable cars
Other than that I would say Skoda. Part of VW, all the bits and pieces are the same except the badge says Skoda and not VW and for that reason is a fraction of the price |

"Smallish mpv ?
Try the skoda yeti
still part of the VAG group ....Or why not a SEAT Altea ? "
That's what we have now an althea, basically a golf plus without the expense of the vw badge, and on a run I get 60 mpg round town 45, but it shifts mainly when the wife drives it lol |

VW Sharan/ford Galaxy/seat Alhambra same car, different badges
Ford S max or C max
Honda stream or CRV or SRV
Skoda yeti might be a bit small. I wouldn't look beyond these |
